Have you ever interacted with AI?

LLMs are not capable of generating factual information. That’s not how the technology works. It’s never been how the technology works. It objectively cannot ever work that way.

It’s just ‘hallucinations.’ It is glorified autocorrect. Yes, it is easy to believe a trained autocorrect generated this paragraph. It seems like each word/phrase token is the most likely thing after the last one, given the total information shown. It is exactly what I, or anyone that has been made to suffer AI usage, expects from AI.

Google has become useless, and few search engines still use search term ranking thanks to AI fucking the brains of every single person in the tech industry.

  • Not everyone that voted for Trump is right-wing. We can argue about effect of vote versus ideological reason for vote for decades, and people have, but the short answer is MAGA isn’t the only group that voted for Trump.

It also wasn’t half of American voters. It was half of people that cast a vote. 77 million adults voted for Trump. As of November 2024 there were around 280 million adults in the US. That’s 27.5% that caused Trump to be elected, or 72.5% of people that did not vote for Trump, not including the ~60 million children that also have to suffer and largely have been against Trump as they’ve started aging into the adult population.

Given historically Republicans represent no more than 25% of the vote (and do note most republicans aren’t actually right-wing, they’re idiots) we can assume the extra are protest votes, misguided people, idiots, accelerationists, or even just people that genuinely still believe Trump is antiestablishment for whatever reason.

Do note that most polls suggest 70-90% of the population agree with socialist and communist policies, as long as you do not use those terms; from universal health care, to unionization, to abolition of the billionaire class, these are incredibly popular ideas.

The 6 trillion or so dollars spent by the US to brainwash Americans against the words socialist and communist since 1914 has caused a mess of people voting against their own personal ideology.

  • It being ‘bad’ is kinda the point. It is a critique of capitalism, even in its current neutered form. It is a simple intuitive proof that if everyone started out on the same fair playing field; which is impossible in capitalism but would be the ‘idealized’ state that anarchocapitalists, Laissez-faire capitalists, and neoliberals would love to pretend the world has ever had or can ever had, capitalism will still end in an absolute collapsed state of a brutalist monopoly.

You have to add random cheat rules to even have a little fun with it, but there is no effective way to make capitalism have an end state that isn’t a total monopoly.

Parker Bros (and the various companies that bought it out after parker bros did) just didn’t really care that it criticized them as much as any other capitalist entity, because they made money.

  • That’s generally just the mold itself. While you can have competing cultures the nature of the Penicilium genus means you don’t have to really worry about bacterial growth and other mold growth would have competing colours in almost all cases for dairy products. With bread and fatty meats where you might see penicilium you are right to worry a lot more, but the nature of modern dairy means whatever spoils it tends to be monoculture as it’s generally a ‘whichever infects first has too much of a headstart to allow competition,’ when with bread and meat mold has a harder time penetrating the substance (giggity) and has much more competition respectively.

Pasteurized dairy is only vulnerable to so many pathogens that you can kinda guess what spoilage you’ll get based on sight and smell (at least down to the genus, it’s impossible to get much more specific without a full lab test).

  • A) The entire purpose of FOSS software and hardware is that you can fully control it, should you choose to. If you don’t like something, you do it differently. Lemmy especially can be hosted on an old laptop if you’ve got any kind of solid home internet connection.

    B) The reason ‘free speech’ instances don’t exist long in any fediverse space is because of CSEM and hate speech. From there, since you legally have to censor that speech depending on where you are in the world, and morally should, then it’s easy to go ahead and ban the things leading to those extremes. Since as neoliberalism.

  • Bowling Alleys, at least some of the ones I’ve seen lately. There was a period in the late 00s where bowling alleys thought they were the shit and started charging upwards of $20/player/lane, plus $30+ dollar pizzas. Not to mention the arcade jumping from quarters to dollar-credits.

The last couple I’ve found have all but dropped that, basically back down to the $15/lane/2 hour model with however many players and complimentary shoe rental. One even had $5 personal pizzas (that yes were just Totinos or similar heated up, but hey it’s better than $30 for a red baron).

I guess the ones that survived covid realized no one was willing to spend a nice dinner’s worth of cash on a night at what should be the second cheapest type of third space available to people.
