  • I’ve never heard of Reticulum, this looks cool!

Also, I’m trans and hate my voice, so digital modes are nice.

This is so real lol. I also have a lot of mic anxiety >w< also frankly (charitably)-a lot- of hams doing voice aren’t worth talking to >w<

Would rly like to see other local on-the-air social spaces in amateur radio than repeaters

I didn’t get enough sleep before work and I’m crashing hard rn but I saw your other msg and I will DM u :3

  • Just saw this, omg you’re the goat :3

This just reminded me I swapped one of these chips for some Zio WiFi Intel chip (secondhand, but yeh >w<) cuz I needed WiFi fast on BSD on my new laptop like a year or 2 ago and forgot about it >w<

I also got similarly horrible vibes from the Linux driver lol, I’m pretty sure it didn’t even work on the distros I tried it on for whatever reason (is this shit even upstreamed??)

Since I actually have hardware (somewhere around here…), if u want I might be open to collaborating…

  • I hope u get your wish, packet radio is so cool

It’s completely dead in my area :(. Even the last APRS repeater I could reach shut down like a year or 2 ago (maybe someone died :/). APRS is primitive garbage but it’s at least widely available, the last time a packet BBS was around my city was prolly like 3 decades ago

Modulation techniques and erasure codes and compression and more have become so much better in the last 20 years especially cuz of cell phones but amateur packet radio seems stuck in the past… It’s a little cwazy to me ppl (ancient Winlink boomers) are still doing plain 1970s ass AX.25 over HF to send e-mails to their buddies at 1 7-bit byte bauds per second to say literally “HELLO FROM MY HAM CAVE AGAIN FOR THE 1 BILLIONTH TIME Q467MN 73” or whatever tf and the only ppl “innovating” in this area are just spreading around microcontrollers with attached off-the-shelf, commercial, proprietary ISM band transceiver chips around them >w< (Meshtastic, which I like, to be clear)

Uhh uhh this is turning into an unsolicited rant but yeah :3

Also how is your kernel driver project going? I think I missed a reply from u, I have rly been lacking in spoons recently…
