I don’t know why this is so heavily downvoted. Russia will not give up all the occupied land. That is just the reality of it. Unless Russia like collapses internally I don’t see the Russian governing elite ever giving up the land they captured willingly. You could call an indefinite ceasefire and not official grant it to them but over time the new borders will just become more and more ingrained

Unless a major shift happens Ukraine can fight as long as it wants and more and more people can die. I don’t think its currently and for the foreseeable future realistic for Ukraine to recapture all the land Russia occupied. Thats a sad reality and Ukraine should not be forced to give land away against their will but that reality will at some point catch up to them.

Yeah I agree. I went from Google -> Startpage -> Qwant and I’ve been getting pretty good results honestly. Couldn’t be happier. Only thing bugging me now is them, wanting me to install their browser extension when using Firefox but I just blocked that with uBlock

It seems like the feddit.uk admins are currently reviewing this and thats why they didn’t respond. They should’ve said they were reviewing it instead of saying nothing but let them issue their statement before defederating as well. Yeah honestly, I think saying trans women are not women, like that gatekeeping part is the main issue. You know, trans women aren’t the same as cis women from like what they went through but they are still gatekeeping. Trans women are women. When you just say women without any further info people will derive that its referring to most probably cis women but this differentiation really does not matter. But personally it really depends on moderation style. I don’t take huge offense to the feddit.uk mods not removing this. Its on the edge but if for example they don’t have like gatekeeping rules about it then the other users should just downvote it. If it doesn’t fall in lines with the rules then remove it but defederation of one comment is a lot if you ask me. But I get that they want to be a save space for LGBTQ+ people

Warning to anyone that thinks about using an external service to sync/back up images. Immich is NOT encrypted. You trust these people to respect your privacy and not get hacked, or you would have to just not care. Ente or Zeitkapsel are fully encrypted and decent alternatives you do not have to host yourself. I personally will self-host but I will never ever trust someone with my private pictures from my camera roll.

Ecosia is worse when it comes to tracking and advertising tho, but their goals are most certainly admirable

Ecosia is actively developing their own search index together with Qwant. They are rolling out French and German results this year actually. AFAIK only like Mojeek and like Swisscow have their own search index (as well as Brave which is US based). But their current search results aren’t really that great which is why I will stick to Qwant.

I also don’t fully trust Brave because of their whole crypto involvement but their search engine is pretty good from experience and definitely much better in terms of privacy than google.

Startpage got bought by System1 in 2019. System1 is an American advertising company. I personally use Qwant for privacy reasons - They’re also in the process of building their own search index together with Ecosia.

I think its easier to switch from generally that to LibreOffice, but the company driving OnlyOffice is russian so I’d prefer a community driven project like LibreOffice tbh.
