  • I like to save memes from Lemmy to share with friends, and my messaging apps won’t send webp’s. I use Jerboa and when I long press on the image it says what file type it is. If it’s webp, I either sigh and move on, or if it’s a really good meme, I screenshot it and crop it. But it’s a pain.

Ironically, this post’s image is also a webp

  • It’s the male version of “foid” which is short for “femoid.” I’ve never heard or seen “moid” before, like you say. I would have thought that female incels would be on the side of male incels, thinking that women were the problem, and the reason they couldn’t sleep with anyone is because the pretty women are all sluts and taking all the men or something

  • Not very important but I remember it strangely well.

I was 8 years old. My teacher asked “What is one hundred times one hundred?”

I raised my hand and said “Ten thousand!”

“No, it’s one thousand. Ten times ten is one hundred, and one hundred times one hundred is one thousand.”

“But… It’s ten thousand. Can I show you on a calculator?”

“No! Sit down, it’s one thousand. I’m the teacher, I should know.”

I later got a calculator and showed her and she didn’t apologise.

The issue is, in practically, resumes don’t have all indicators of race or gender removed.

There have been several studies that suggest that the name on the resume is enough of an indicator of race and gender to let bias creep in. Even on otherwise identical resumes. I’m not sure if we’re going to remove names from resumes any time soon.
