It just seems like every thing they tell us about the Switch 2 it gets to be a worse and worse investment. The price point of the console and the games are so high that I am not even considering buying Nintendo.

What is it about this new console that’s better than any other consoles? Why would anyone buy the S2 if the Steam deck is an option, for instance? Consumers can buy three or four great games on a PC/Steam deck for the cost of one Nintendo S2 game, and Nintendo games nearly never go on sale.

Love seeing another person with lots of hours in Caves of Qud. It’s rapidly climbing up my hours played list since 1.0 release. Bought it at 17.99, played for 220 hours so far. Math says that’s 9 cents an hour, and I’m still not done playing. Live and drink, friend!

Is it played in MMORPG style in that it doesn’t have a pause feature? If so then it may as well be played online. If you can’t walk away from the game until you’re in a safe spot, then there’s no functional difference between an MMO and this game except you don’t get randos teabagging your corpse. This is why I stopped playing MH games.

I played MMOs for years and they’re great in some ways, but I got tired of always having to arrange myself safely before stepping away for a bio break or a snack.

Consider Phlebas is a bit of a rough start. I found it to be more rewarding on a second read-through after finishing several other Culture novels. By all means keep reading Phlebas, it’s very good, but it’s ok to sit back and sort of let the book happen, if you get my drift. It’ll become clearer as you read.

In my personal experience, true poly couples often act the way that Phlox/Feezal do around a potential new partner. In all cases I’ve seen they respect the boundaries that the new partner sets, like here Trip feels weird and expresses that later in the episode, so they back off.

Poly relationships would have been a really cool dynamic to explore on Enterprise though, so it’s somewhat of a missed opportunity. Oh well.

The species in question is called the Affront, which is a name they took on willingly. The Affront know that most of the galaxy thinks they’re barbaric and pointlessly gruesome, and they revel in it. Think of them like a race of Klingon Donald Trumps. They’re also very clearly not good guys and are not presented as such in the novel.

The main character I’d hesitate to call a hero, because he’s not. His wish to join the Affront is seen as extraordinarily odd by his colleagues and the Culture in general, who only tolerate the Affront in order to avoid drawing them into war.

I can’t read the full article on mobile but the premise is stupid. I’ve read most of the Culture novels and none of them felt sexist to me.
