It was broadly due to a consitutional reform (no small thing) that was not made clear to the public. It was a piecemeal attempt to assuage part of the Uluru Statement From the Heart, but it was very poorly executed. 40% of First Nations people voted against it, which shows it was never about race, but about poor execution of a referendum. We have a long way to go as a nation to repair the past, and Australians voted that this constitutional reform was not something we need in order for reparations to occur.

Currently, fencing off underneath the house and separating the house yard into two parts so my dogs stay out of the garden.
Exhausted now. Spent the day doing carpentry around my house. Sense of self satisfaction is high.
