  • A lot of the infighting from among the left during the past election felt pretty artificial, to be perfectly honest, and most of the “Genocide Joe/Holocaust Harris” types seemed to just evaporate after the election ended.

They didn’t go anywhere, I am one of those people, I will happily refer to Joe Biden as “Genocide Joe” for the rest of my life because of what he did in opening the door to the Palestinian Genocide. I also will keep labelling Trump, and Bush and Cheney and the whole lot of them as war criminals and in particular Trump is also even more in support of the Palestinian Genocide than Biden (which isn’t a surprise to leftists that centrists think it is? Stop strawmanning the left).

Shame on you for letting the lazy narrative in your head that feels satisfying to pin on leftists become something you actually believe without evidence.

Sure, I am sure there are Russian bots exploiting the centrist inability to understand how cataclysmic the Palestinian Genocide is for the U.S. and the world, but the centrist position of y’all just casually asking whether most of the anti-genocide voices during the run-up to the election weren’t genuine is bullshit.

Do you understand how pathetic and divorced from your humanity it makes you look? This isn’t a sports game where you pick teams based on what colors you like or where you are from, this is about being against genocide… of anybody anywhere.

Edit Downvote me and don’t bother responding you coward who can’t face up to the genocide being directly facilitated and endorsed by the U.S.

  • Talking in these apocalyptic terms is really a bit silly, not to mention counter-productive IMO.

That is your opinion, you don’t like thinking about negative things and so you are projecting that onto me.

No surer way to tempt fate than to tell everyone that it’s all hopeless and they should all just go home and call it a day.

No, the way we have tempted fate is by pretending things are not anywhere near as serious as they are and then focused our energy on tone policing the people who were suffering already and trying to warn us.

I NEVER said to quit fighting, I said to keep fighting and I will always say that, you are projecting the conclusion that someone with my point of view has no reason to fight, whereas I share my view so that I may hopefully shock people into realizing there is no reason not to fight with everything they have right now. There is no rational reason to save beyond 15 years down the road, to put off spending time with friends and loved ones. We live in an existential time, I am sorry you can’t handle that but other people can and that is why I share.

Let me ask you a question, if I told you I had a terminal illness and only had ~10 years to live, would you tell me to stop being negative about it?

You are the one hurting people by gaslighting them for feeling intense climate grief, you rob people of the fire to fight when you say to despair is useless. Despair is a necessary step into realizing you need to take radical action, there is no positive short cut to it, there is only self deception that provides the illusion of forestalling the discomfort from facing it head on and grappling with it.

To hope with a cynicism that will defend the status quo until the very end is useless.

Things are not ok, and I am sorry but no you obviously aren’t an expert in keeping up with climate science and related topics if you think we don’t face very real existential threats to the global biosphere and functioning of the human food system in the next decade and a half.

I don’t rely on the SD card on my phone to be the sole source of my data, it is a common pool so that I don’t have to walk around firehosing cellular data back and forth for no reason.

Syncthing works best when one device is always on or nearly always on the internet, so my phone is the perfect bounce port to keep a bigger network of syncthing devices working together on (note Syncthing will sync over a local network if possible, which is most of the time with my devices).

If the SD card fails shrugs I get another one?

I mean… that is the route that cameras take right? You just use two SD cards. I do the same thing but with a paired raspberrry pi and another SD card that is connected with Syncthing.

Me? I also use Syncthing and my phone is part of a personal cloud.

Have you thought about the fact that maybe you can’t think of a usecase because you have already gotten used to not having the luxury of an SD card and owning the things you enjoy?
