For Those Who Have No One to Campaign for Them

In Gaza, personal fundraising campaigns have multiplied, each trying to support exhausted families. Despite their great importance, the number of people they reach remains very small compared to the immense suffering endured by more than two million people here. Most of those running these campaigns belong to the same struggling class trying simply to survive… so what about those who have no one to speak for them or raise funds on their behalf?

From this sense of responsibility—and from being a son of this place, living what the people here live and knowing their needs up close—I decided to take initiative in my community and launch a campaign that ensures support reaches as many families as possible on a regular basis, especially with winter approaching and the additional hardship it will bring.

The idea of the campaign is simple and clear: Donations are collected monthly and then distributed fairly among a group of families, according to the amount raised each month. Each family receives a fixed monthly amount that covers its basic needs, allowing them to survive in this brutal reality with dignity—without being forced to stand before cameras or beg for help in ways that wound their humanity.

In Gaza, we have literally lost everything. We live under suffocating siege, among the rubble of our homes and the tents that protect us neither from the heat of summer nor the cold of winter. We are facing a catastrophe whose cruelty humanity has not witnessed in this era. And yet, the hearts of the people here still hold what is worth living for—and what is worth standing together for.

I, Wasim, the organizer of this campaign from inside Gaza, deeply believe that human need should never strip a person of their dignity, and that an honest word alone can convey the truth without relying on images that expose a person’s pain and humiliate their suffering. I do not want to provoke sympathy through painful photos… I want to speak to the conscience of every free human who sees themselves as a brother to others in our shared humanity.

I have long avoided asking for aid, but today the circumstances are beyond what any person can endure. And what I seek is not help for one individual, but support for entire families—to allow them a minimum sense of security and dignity.

With all love and respect from Gaza…

To every free human who carries a place in their heart for truth and stands with the oppressed who cannot stand for themselves
