Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu. Wouldn’t it be better to go for one of the distributions everything else is based on? Debian or Fedora?

Will it happen, though? Trump staged a coup 4 years ago and no one did a thing about it. DOGE has been fucking around for months now and no one has done a thing. No one in the USA is going to do a thing about anything, post a meme on Lemmy maybe? They’re paralysed and unable to take action. They’ll never react.

There’s also IHateMoney as a self hosted service and MoneyBuster as an Android app to interact with IHateMoney.

That’s 90% of online shopping there. It’s hard to hear, but we as costumers are part of the problem. Stop buying so much shit online. Go to a brick and mortar shop. Touch it, feel it, try those pants.

Online shopping is a fucking waste and every day we have dozens of shipping companies coming to the city with their vans to drive through each street bringing small packages to every apartment. Polluting, blocking streets, increasing traffic. Just because we are too lazy to go to a shop and buy it in person.

We probably don’t even need it. And yes, I know there’s not a shop next to me that sells X or Y. Do you know why? Because we’ve been killing small brick and mortar shops for 20 years with our online shopping. We created this problem and we have to fix it. Fuck the “broken, wasteful system” and support your local shop.

I would also love an option to copy links present in the text of a post, currently I can only get the Lemmy link to the post itself.

I sometimes want to copy a link to save it on a note. Other times I want to share that link with someone. In other cases the link might contain trailing tracking text that I want to remove before opening the link.

In all of these cases it would be great to have the possibility to just copy a link, then I’ll take care of the rest.

The second best time to fix this was 4 years ago, when the Capitol was attacked to try to overturn a democratic election. But the USA has a big problem: nothing was done. A criminal staged a coup and failed. And nothing was done. He was allowed to go free, run for president and now he is in charge. The USA already failed years ago and now is just reaping what it allowed fascism to sow. Because nothing was ever done about it.
