Despite all my rage I’m still a rat refreshing this page.

I use arch btw

Credibly accused of being a fascist, turbolib, commie, anarchist, child, boomer, pointlessly pedantic, a Russian psychological warfare operative, and db0’s sockpuppet.

Pronouns are she/her.

Vegan for the iron deficiency.

  • I think some people’s working conditions are so horrible that they can only imagine doing work in response to coercive violence. Like it’s true, nobody in an anarchist society is going to flip burgers for 8 hours straight with 1 30 minute break being shouted at if production slows marginally. That is inhumane bullshit. Nobody is going to destroy their lungs in a mine without protective equipment and on long shifts that compromise safety because that is an insane thing to be forced to do.

Loads of work is meaningful shit, even if a lot of it is tedious and difficult. When a (functional) household or community organisation divides work it somehow manages to get things done without anything threatening each other. Feelings of obligation, love, respect, generosity, shame, guilt, and responsibility are extremely powerful motivators. Mining is hard and dangerous, but some people don’t mind that and will do it because it needs doing and commands respect provided they are treated with dignity.

The conditions of many jobs will have to change sure, and many jobs which serve only to elevate one above others will vanish (many freeing up huge amounts of resources. e.g. all the fucking energy and production that goes into stock trading computers) but the fundamental industries humans need to do change surprisingly little when you remove the capital.

  • What is it that you think would be a barrier? anarchism isn’t when you’re not organised. It’s when you’re not forced.

People can still be organised, everyone needs medicine and sees it’s benefit. Would you help? whether that’s growing or gathering precursor materials, managing inventories, doing synthesis, maintaining and building machines, hosting educators and specialists, or transporting goods. The work involved isn’t different from what everyone already does.

  • Eh, the essay makes good points about why electoralism is not going to bring about a just society but it paves over all the ways that electoralism can make things worse with “we can just do mutual aid”.

For a lot of people in a lot of places casting a vote is low effort, and realistically the only intervention they’ll ever actually participate in while the barrier to entry is still so high due to the left being so utterly defeated. You can absolutely limit the power of “moderate” conservatives and liberals who tend to be the actual powerbase that successful facist takeovers of governments use. As well as having their own horrible goals.

It’s not really an either-or thing and the jackbooted thugs that are going to black bag you aren’t going to be like “well the ballot was down 15% (wildly optimistic) this year so uhhh I don’t think these orders are legitimate”.

We need numbers, practiced organisers, and institutions before accelerationism is at all advisable, if it even ever is. Even if your wildest pipe dreams about revolution broke out tomorrow we would lose right now, we just don’t have the numbers, skills and tactics yet.

Ok, you can dogpile me now.

  • Yeah, I hope it’s just the reactionary stubborness of feeling dogpiled but people have a tendency to work themselves into feeling like righteous martyrs.

We all grow and change, a lot of people have transphobic attitudes and aren’t working on software which empowers minorities including trans people, so I hope he will come to realise the silliness of his views. Still pretty sad and gross though.

  • Based? Inflammatory? The same fire housed in different vessels. One calls my truth ‘based’ and sits before my warming hearth; the other shrieks ‘inflammatory’ to douse its flames. But fire, darling, does not beg for labels, it devours. I am the arsonist and the architect, let them bicker over semantics while I dance in the ashes of their dichotomy. After all, why choose between a palace and a wildfire… when you can inhabit the first as you unleash the second?

I spent waaaay too much time on that bit of silliness. To work with me now.

  • inflammatory

That veganism is the morally correct position supported by most ethicists and carnism has to be actively taught and normalised.

The other is anything about quasiparticles. There are these cool interactions that can arise in matter under certain conditions that result from different particles “coupling” in a way that causes them to behave like a cool new particle that isn’t real. Coupling is a fancy physics term for interacting repetitively in some stable way, like the tines on a tuning fork are coupled because vibrating one vibrates the other which vibrates the first and so on.

One quasiparticle I really like is the polariton. electrons interact with electrons right? Well sometimes we get waves in the electrons of a material which are called plasmons. Because electrons and photons interact (light can excite electrons, excited electrons can emit light. That’s why torches and well seeing and shit) these waves can get into a coupled mode with photons.

You could imagine it like a photon being absorbed which makes a wave that travels a bit then breaks and shoots out a photon which etc etc. Personally I like to imagine a happy photon dolphin surfing in the electron sea. It behaves like a really heavy and slow photon, which interesting since photons are neither slow nor have any mass.

Anyway, now you know there are chunky light dolphins skimming around sometimes and one day they might be what makes our computers think. So that’s neat.

  • I just logged into this one to check this instance. the vtc one has less federation which is good for mental health, bad for large discussions. Also using either vtc or hexbear gets people doing the “ahhh you’re a tankie” thing eyerolling I was working with the extremely lib greens party over the election here haha. Anarchists, MLs, and Libs can all call me a traitor!

Been busy, mate went through shit, going back to grad school to change career, local action group started and then died because of flaky people (<3 my anarchist comrades that are so against hierarchy even scheduling is too oppressive haha. Seriously I do although it’s very funny and fail).
