You will not go to space today
I’m so fucking tired of this red herring. You cannot make a functional, reliable, and deadly firearm using a 3D printer without access to additional materials and processes. You may as well outlaw steel pipe under the same logic. Meanwhile, this law concerns kits that can be used to assemble a working firearm in less than an hour. 3D printing a gun is a fucking stupid idea that is nothing more than a bad faith argument to distract from legislation that actually has a chance to reduce violence. If you actually care about gun control, focus on the real issues, not made up ones.
The Department of Homeland Security said it will seek the arrest and deportation of those subject to the policy change if they fail to depart the U.S. in the next 30 days. Officials are urging migrants to use the newly repurposed CBP Home smartphone app to register for self-deportation.
“Please use our smartphone app to register with the gestapo” isn’t the cyberpunk future I wanted.

What model did you use to generate this summary?
Hey! They consented! Supposedly.
Awww, I was expecting a picture of a fighter jet
“Hopefulism”? I didn’t know we had a slur for optimists now.
A tool that isn’t useful isn’t a tool at all!
Yikes. I knew this tech would introduce new societal issues, but I can’t say this is one I foresaw.
The most logical chain I can think of is this: Carbon fiber is used in drone frames and missile parts -> Drones and missiles are weapons of war -> The user is a terrorist.
Of course, it is an error to ascribe “thinking” to a statistical model. The boring explanation is that there was likely some association between this topic and restricted topics in the training data. But that can be harder for people to conceptualize.
So quick update: my friend who was homeschooled in a religious household but is now atheist thinks it is not satire. My take is that if this is satire, it’s going over a lot of people’s heads.
Realizing you want to improve is the first step to growing into a better person!
So I followed your link, found the quoted text, and and had a look around the website. I genuinely cannot tell if this is satire. Most of the links are now dead, but the ones that work seem to lead to serious sources. If it is satire, it is very high effort.
Anyway, I’m going to share with a friend who has more personal experience with this kind of thing and get their perspective.
Don’t leave the rest of us in suspense; should we be using APIs???
I think the best possible response to a question like this is just to say “yes”, and refuse to elaborate further.
I’m sorry, but I just wanted to say that being charged $16k for emergency medical attention doesn’t sound like a mistake on your part.
