The DOS era of PC gaming was a real hidden retro gaming gem for me. Found out about it in 2014 and I easily left the retro consoles for the glorious old PCs that had better colors, better gameplay, and treated me like an adult, and were not just about killing everything on screen (well, except for this game lol).

That movie is a lot older than the reupload suggests (reupload says 2022, actual year the video was release was 2016). This was during the time the left was the most reactionary that I know of (I was also a reactionary left-leaning person at the time). I used to see this type of thing as based and the correct answer, but after CHAZ failed, Trump’s second win and just talking to some right-leaning people, I started to question this type of thinking (black people can’t be racist, constant schadenfreude and smugness of opponents instead of understanding and nuance, anger is good, denounce people who are less radical then me, every leftist is good and every rightwinger is bad, etc).

Social media was also seen back then by most millennials as a universal good and not a manipulation machine. Now a lot of these ideas are now seen as psyops by a lot of the left now. Just seeing the ICE Portland protest with the silly costumes felt more effective optically than most of the 2010’s protests. It’s really easy to beileve “AnTiFa ArE ThE ReAl FaScIsTs…” when the colors are red & black and look and act scary and menacing. Protests are a lot smarter these days and I am glad for it.

I am of course still a leftist. Just a more understanding and careful one (and also jaded). I’m glad Big Joel exists to combat a lot of this reactionary-type thinking.
