Shein and Temu and other cheap chinese mail order goods companies only existed due to then loophole in previous tariffs for small sales. I imagine they will try to clear out stock and then call it quits soon.

Ok, so yes, more ultra rich may pay a little more tax than they would with income tax. But, the much more important part here, the poorest people will ALSO pay more in taxes, money that they do not have to spare. That is what makes it regressive.
There is literally no way to put a flat tax on goods without it disproportionately effecting poorer people unless it is exclusively on luxury goods they are not buying
Marginally. They don’t spend most of their money on goods.
Multimillionaire do not, no. The ultra rich either have no income, have negligible income, or are compensated in ways that aren’t subject to income tax. That’s why there should be a wealth tax and sensible capital gains tax.
It’s the most well known and actually implemented in a couple states. But it has some weaknesses I’m less than a fan of.
No, replacing income tax with tariffs isn’t basically the same thing. It’s worse. It is replacing a progressive tax (one that is easiest on lower wage earners and gets higher with income levels) to a regressive tax (one that more greatly effects lower wage earners than higher) because lower wage earners have to spend most or all of their income for survival, while high income earners regularly use their surplus money for things unaffected by tariffs, like investments, property, travel, etc.
“Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” Leavitt asked.
Because Biden didn’t affect Chinese inflation? You fucking rubes.
Ranked choice is a step in the right direction, but Approval Voting is better and more intuitive, imo.
It’ll be an uphill battle with all the GOP trying to destroy education to make more dumb dumbs and the dumb dumbs they already have helping them along.
Executive orders are not laws. He can direct how the law in enforced, but he can’t just unilaterally define new laws
Words that rhyme with Trump: chump, grump, slump, bump, rump, lump, hump, Gump, dump, frump(y), pump, thump, clump, stump…
For Don: gone, pawn, prawn, fong, jong, con, QAnon, Mastadon…
There’s some pretty inspiring stuff to work with here for sure.
Alas, when has the constitution actually stopped him? His supporters fully support this blantantly corrupt crap, and he’s even selling “Trump 2028” merch.
Yes, but for him to actually run, he needs to be on the ballot. Elections are run by the states. He would need enough states to recognize his legal right to run again to even be on their ballots. Then he would have to win any number of court challenges to his being allowed. And then he would have to actually win. And then he would have to be confirmed by Congress. I’m sure he’ll do anything he can to game the system, but I don’t think he’ll make it past all of those stopgaps. More than likely, if he gets a third term, it will not be through any amount of legitimate means. He’ll try to skip elections entirely, is my bet.
I don’t think a third party can track your steaming without the allowance of the site you are using. With torrents, it’s the nature of Peer to Peer transfers that your client or connecting to other clients to share the files, which is how they get your IP. With a streaming service, there is no open Peer to Peer download, so they could only track your streaming via cookies on the website or something like that. That is my understanding anyway.
Ah, well. Not sure he is capable of reading anyway.

“Election fraud”… how? A) Reporting facts of public opinion is never illegal. B) Election fraud comes in 3 forms, as far as I know. 1. Campaign finance fraud. 2. Civil rights violations. 3. Voting/ballot fraud. This is clearly none of these. C) There is no Election going on. The current administration has only existed for 3 months. We are about as far from an election while being far enough into an administration to hold a valid opinion on it as possible. D) YOU CANNOT RUN FOR PRESIDENT AGAIN YOU FUCKING RUBE! I don’t give a fuck what your ethically void legal team of Heritage Foundation ideolgues tells you. They are full of shit.
Also, even the reputation he has was bullshit propaganda. The common canon of the story is that Columbus knew the Earth was round and everyone else told him he was crazy, that the Earth was flat and he was going to sail his crew off the edge of the world. That’s not remotely true. Everyone knew he Earth was round. It was completely accepted and common knowledge at the time.
They did call Columbus crazy and say he was going to kill his crew, though. Not for believing the Earth was round, but for believing it was about a third the circumference that it actually is and was essentially known to be. The reason people didn’t sail west to get to the Indies was because it was believed to be (and is) a loooong fucking trip. He disagreed and thought it would be about a third of what everyone else knew it to be. So he only stocked the three ships with enough supplies for this much smaller distance.
He sailed his men west past the point of no return to what absolutely would have been their certain deaths. And they got close to killing him over it when their supplies ran critically low. Had he not lucked out and found land WAY fucking early and nowhere near his destination, he would have been remembered, if indeed he were remembered at all, for being a complete moron, because he was. He was just a moron that got saved by dumb luck.
And that’s the “heroic” stuff that we’re meant to applaud him for, independent of the horrible treatment of the natives. He only got a holiday in the first place because Catholics wanted a American figure that represented them and so they lobbied hard for it. The guy was not an aspirational figure though. He just had good PR for a long time.
That’s fair
