One thing that has kept me on dwm for so long is that my patched configuration no longer needs any more changes and I take it with me wherever I go. it was challenging but rewarding.

Never an upgrade needed.

How’s the stability of bspwm for you? It used to be my go-to but I think multiple monitors would make it crash when I used it years ago.

I’ve reached for some complex awk when I am looking to parse snippets of code where breaking out a full language parser would have been too much.

One example is parsing statements from a Dockerfile but only within certain stages of the image. So I reach for regex range in awk and I can make something that works everywhere.

Of course I probably could have done the same thing in python by controlling the beginning and end via variables, but I like awk sometimes.

The gophers are https://podman.io/ which builds and runs containers. My guess is they are building the same application in multiple distros for their one application

Add on a CI system (not Jenkins) and you got yaml controlling your yaml!

Also if you don’t already have one, don’t get a dog until your kids are a bit grown up and require less attention

You’ll feel bad not being able to give your dog enough training and time when your kids require it.

Good parks for kids also ban dogs, so you’ll leave your furry friend at home a lot.

Some advice from a nurse when I had my last kid. “No child ever died from crying, if you need to walk away to take a breather”

Between my last 2 kids there were times where I did get angry trying to soothe them and when your sleep deprived it can be very dangerous.

If your wife is pumping breast milk and you need to warm it up every time you’re feeding. I recommend a mini fridge and a bottle warmer combo in the room you’re sleeping.

It can freeze the bags and get the next one ready.

You will thank yourself later if you set up all of those in docker-compose, save the configuration to git, mount the storage to something like /media in the container. That means next time you have to set this up again it will automatically be ready.

I had previous work experience, but setting up containers vs VMs was way faster. The permissions of the media between multiple apps was never messed with which saved me from frustrating issues between applications.

Definitely I used to judge when I heard kids scream during shopping. Now as a parent of young kids I know exactly what that’s like. It’s not uncommon to have to take a time out in the cleaning supplies aisle while they cool down.
