No, I don’t think being assessed relative to subpar students is a benefit. You’d get a better letter grade, sure. But likely a worse education due to “lowering the bar”, which is what you paid for. Educators often can’t grade on absolute scales because the pass/fail ratio of the students factors into their own performance assessment.

Lower class participation, impact on grading curves, and distracting behavior all have an effect on others.

Because your enrollment in a class is not without consequence. If you are doing poorly due to being distracted by your phone, you are creating harm for other students and the lecturer/professor. Thinking that you are free to behave however you wish just because you are the customer is an extremely consumer-minded Karen-esque mindset.

Yeah I won’t pretend to know or care about the way it’s done for whole humans. I am dubious of its feasibility, leaning strongly towards thinking it’s just plain old exploitation of grieving people.

I am arguing that being quieter can/does increase harm. Sure, not by a whole lot, I know it’s still loud af. But it does make a difference.

I’m not factually incorrect, and I’m not insulting people. I am being dismissive of assholes who just repeat “Hollywood myth” ad nauseam but I hope you can see how that’s warranted.

Sure, but I just disagree in this case. It’s the same thing. Proliferating guns is the best way to prevent them from being banned. A gun owner never wants to give up their gun.

Suppressors make guns quieter, have less recoil, and can improve accuracy. How does that not make a shooter deadlier? Regardless, yes, my answer is that it should be difficult or impossible to buy a gun or gun accessory. And I don’t care if you and the rest of Lenny thinks it’s impossible, I still think it’s the right thing.

Don’t start the “bigger fish to fry” argument, we’re not here trying to rank order all the bad things in the world.
