    1. Creates people and invites them to a garden party.
    2. Clearly explains the rules. The one rule. Just one. Nice and easy.
    3. People do not follow the one rule and then try to make eye contact while lying about why they broke the rule.
    4. Leaves the party and plays with ants.

  • They chose the name because they thought it was funny, and they did not realize it was derogatory. They did nothing wrong then, they just did not know.

Once it was brought to their attention, they had two options: they could stick with the name that they now know is derogatory and hurtful (and prevents it from being installed in some places) or they could change it.

This is not an isolated problem in the FOSS community. I was trying to roll out Linux VMs in an organizations, and I got called into a meeting because gigolo popped up a message and the user was confused and upset. Yes, it is a funny pun (it mounts what it is told to), but it ruined Linux for that organization and they went with Windows.

  • We are trying. I volunteer for campaigns and knock on doors for progressive candidates. And they get attacked by the kind of democrats who take most of their campaign contributions from property developers and car dealerships.

If you are voting for the establishment and attacking anybody who brings up valid criticisms, YOU are not doing anything about it.

  • “Democrats are not doing enough to encourage people to vote for Democrats.” is a warning, not a threat.

People who make and post memes like this seem to think that the people complaining about conservative Democrats and pointing out problems in the party are not voting for Democrats. I think they largely wrong about that. We are voting for all Democrats all the time, but warning you that your messaging sucks and you are not going to get the turnout you need. It is not our fault we were correct.

  • When I started having issues with the behavior of the church, I started reading into the history of the church, and the history of the Abrahamic religions. I read books written by scholars, archeologists, and anthropologists, not by theologians.

I cannot fathom how anybody learns how Christianity came to be and still believes any of it is true.

  • One reason is bad laws. I would love to replace my natural gas boiler and steam radiators with an electric heat pump system. It would be more efficient, cheaper to run, be able use solar power, and keep my house more comfortable.

But state law requires that buildings meet a specific efficiency requirement, which my house does not meet because it is 170 years old. I understand why they have that requirement for new construction, but it is stupid to not have an exception for old buildings.
