I don’t know, I’ll defend the prequels a little bit. They’re still bad movies, but they’re bad in a way that was… interesting? Besides pod racing, which rips, they had some actual political ideas and were at least set against a backdrop of a liberal democracy descending into fascism.

A manufactured war creates a crisis and goads a small group of bourgeois senatorial elites to concentrate power in the hands of a unitary executive who uses that power to abolish the liberal democracy. The sequels don’t have anything resembling politics, just vibes.

The guest opens the spot saying, “the top issue for Hispanics was actually the economy” and “most said that they were worse off financially compared to 4 years ago.” The guest and host then spend 5 minutes talking about how the problem with Harris campaign’s outreach to Latino voters was that they used the terms Latinx and progresista.

They aren’t technically in cages anymore so there isn’t the press coverage. Things are still pretty terrible. Instead there are the open air holding camps that the Border Patrol is funneling people into. Camps that children are starving and freezing in. And once children do get processed, they are still separated from their families and no one is doing any real checks on the people they are being sent to. It is likely that a large number of migrant children have been victims of labor trafficking.
