Because when Trump came into power this time around he started making a bunch of “no 51st state” hats, and the people love that support him love themselves a hat and didn’t want to become a part of America, so he was the clear choice.

It didn’t help that the provincial Liberals were trying to bring in Crombie (Ford Lite) and the NDP couldn’t campaign themselves out of a wet bag. It was another abysmal turnout (sub 50%, I think it was 45%) and it seemed to be because he had a anti-Trump narrative at the time.

Everyone that votes for him seems to conveniently forget how he went quiet after his Maralago visit and disappeared back to his cottage until the election took place. They forget the period where he stopped posturing and disappeared.

I’m curious how Polievre will do in his own riding, he is against a liberal Bruce Fanjoy who has actually done pretty well for himself and the early voting was counted first in that riding which had Bruce up a few votes so it’ll be a matter of time to see how it actually goes since the early vote was said to be largely Liberal supporters.

I’ve known about the issue with a lack of ways to store the energy produced for about 5 years now, does it seem like we’re making any steps in it recently? Also how does it work in a “green” fashion to produce all of the batteries necessary for that sorts of energy storage, I feel like that’s going to be one of the next discussions about how “pure” this method is.

I went for an event in Paris a couple of years ago that was held on an annual day they had where they didn’t allow any pedestrian traffic into the centre core. It was an amazing experience only having to share the road with buses and taxis.

People don’t consider the tourism money involved in these actions. There were over 300 people in our group from outside of the area, just for a single day event for a longboard community. Great job by the mayor to hold strong on these actions.

They’re just as involved in the Arctic as Russia is, not to mention a lot of their illegal fishing in our waters. They’ve been just as involved in trying to put people in positions of power in our government, and have had their own CCP police stations where people can report on dissenters of the CCP on Canadian land.

This thread is so focused in other comments about how “America is just as bad if not worse of a problem for Canada!” And that alone makes me wonder how much Chinese propaganda is showing up on Canadian social media channels, even newer ones like Lemmy. The fact of the matter is that there can be multiple threats, and ignoring China just because the US is being a big, loud, scary threat right now is not what I want the leader of my country to be focused on. Carney has been doing well to bring up the problem of the US wanting our minerals, while also pointing out other adversarial problems focused around trying to open up shipping lanes through the Arctic in our land.

I don’t disagree on a general scale but in relation to this post it isn’t the rich forcing a lot of teams back to work. It’s people in management positions that are over valued and unable to provide an effective workspace without being over their workers shoulders. There’s always the argument the building owners who rent their spaces are the ones paying to get RTO more advertisement space, but in the end it’s the middle class doing it to itself.

Which is twice as funny because consultants often cost more in the short term. It’s mostly to avoid those pesky things like “benefits” or “pension plans” that employers need to take care of for their own employees.

Just wanted to say I’ve had you marked with notes before as someone really good with your research, but each time I see your longer answers I make sure to take the time to read it. Really appreciate the knowledge transfer on a lot of your posts, please don’t stop!

I’m one of the people who have helped set up a community for skaters/longboarders in my city which has seen a great regular base of people coming back weekly. The ages vary from all spans. Do you want to know what I’ve found the key to be?

A) The meetups have to be accessible to the group, meaning something which doesn’t require people to pay for. People can’t afford anything right now, especially the younger people. Having somewhere public to go and hang out together and skate is a huge benefit. The costing leads us into the second more important step;

B) community willing to gift old gear to new riders. If people come join our community, there is often someone available with an extra board they don’t use as much and are happy to gift to new riders who seem interested in following meets. Finally, and actually the most challenging;

C) making sure to limit political discussions. People in our group of over 40 people obviously have a wide swath of beliefs, and if anyone gets discriminatory, we shut that shit down and explain to those people that the group is inclusive and has no interest in those discussions here. We always have the risk of members clashing, but with a larger group we’ve found over the past couple of years we’re able to at least shut that stuff down sooner, since the majority of people involved just want others to skate with and make friends with for their hobbies, and less so their beliefs.

All of this to say the most important part is free third places. If people don’t have places they can go together that doesn’t empty their wallets, then yeah, people are going to stop going out and will stay inside instead. It’s another failing from the generations that have come before closing down more public spaces and trying to monetize everything, including government services.

No offense but you all need to dig deep down and get some of the anger that the MAGA group has.
