Many people have expressed their lack of interest in supporting the devs, due to transphobia and other issues.

Usually the only things loaded are FreeDOS and instructions for how to install an OS (and the laptop’s instructions/links to them online).

Definitely dont bother with buying a pi if you’ve got other hardware.

I have one physical (a 3b I had no use for anymore), and two running as containers. The containers do most of the heavy lifting, since they are so much faster than a pi they respond far faster, but the physical is nice for when I take down the clusters for maintenance (or when I lose power, the clusters shut down after about 3 minutes, the pi will keep going for a while on UPS).

A bunch of companies had or have an agreement with MS not to sell hardware without an OS, FreeDOS was the workaround, basically loaded to get wiped.

MSI did it for sure, same with HP and I think Asus. Not sure how many still do it though. I haven’t bought premade new (including laptops) in quite some time.

Ive got 16gb in the work-provided machine… And I can safely say that more than half is just autostart crap.

Since I only use it for messaging/email, I don’t much care tbh. Just kind of a fun to note for the laughs though.

Oh definitely. Its shut down every day, has a dedicated dock in the home office, and I open it at 9am.

Thats when I get my coffee and snack. Its just surprising how much longer I can sit and sip before starting now.
