I do recall that my coworker’s son got himself wedged between the stove and fridge, so #3 is plausible for Human-Jennifer.

News@lemmy.world•Cornell suspends fraternity parties, gives state police role in investigating campus assault reports
17·3 天前Friend mentioned that when a similar thing happened at his University, the frats just had “gatherings” instead of “parties” and that was ok with the administration… (probably decades ago, so a slightly different environment)
I can’t remember where the important thing is because I have a huge mental map of all the things that might come in handy one day…

Wife’s friends always requested that she bring me along even though none of the other husbands/partners were coming. When she’d ask why they would just tell her “he’s fun”. I assume, “without being a tiresome asshole” was the unmentioned part.
I recall my friend’s brother being proud that he carried his pregnant wife out of the house during the big Northridge earthquake here in Los Angeles, but he was Winnie the Poohing it with a #4, so immediately had his ego deflated.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What changed that you didn't expect to change when you moved from one place to another?
2·7 天前When I moved from the Northwoods of Wisconsin to Los Angeles (Burbank), a lot of changes were to be expected… The one I didn’t expect was the total lack of thunder n lightning despite rain storms that would flood the streets. I think I was out here at least 6 years before I heard any thunder and that was a one-time event. Been here for almost 29 yrs now, and I can probably count the number on one hand.
This is the way
Ya, I’m kinda torn… All the things you mention, but then there’s my ADHD which makes objects disappear from existence if I don’t see them.
I just leave a post-it with “Sorry about the sneeze. I don’t think it hit all of them”
Yay. Spent a lot of time taming the barn cat kittens so they could get homes when I was a kid…
Looks like a young version of our FuzzButts. We finally nabbed him off of the street about a year ago. He’s FiV+, so is somewhat isolated from our other cats. He’s still working on getting properly socialized with humans, but is a big sweetheart when he does relax. Can’t find a pic, but I did find this short vid of a mocking bird pulling his tail when he was still outside.
My first thought was that they were MST3K-ing the nekkid apes.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's keeping you from ditching the civilized world and living in the woods?
5·8 天前The wilds; they call… Pretty sure I could be a happy well-adjusted hermit, but my wife and family keep me from running off to amass my racoon army. I focus my energy on creating a backyard jungle that lets me pretend that I’m not trapped in suburbia.
That’s the sort of thing that would have changed the direction of an entire ancient empire…

Which reminds me… The best thing about giving your pet people names, is eventually somebody with that name will become a fixture in your life and then you get to refer to them as “Human Dave” and still call the pet Dave.
