Selfhosted@lemmy.world•ICYMI, Unraid now supports internal boot and TPM licensingEnglish
5·5 hours agoAs a former unraid user and a certified unraid hater—Finally a problem solved by computers since their inception has been solved by unraid… cannot imagine why one uses unraid outside of having a mixed set of drives and only one device.

2·6 hours agoSo you could say it’s a pain… lol, what I just said
how many days I went to fork from the office
you’re certified?
Can I integrate location history from google maps or my running watch or just my phone? Would be interested just in getting that print out of all my runs
Also—why would someone want location history beyond getting that cool map? What does this add that my selfhosted ability to remember where I went doesn’t?

51·18 hours agoHonestly running anything that isn’t Synology made on their devices is a pain. Also, without knowing how old the device is, it’s also a challenge to make a recommendation. As the other user replied Jellyfin is a good one, can run music, movies and tv, and home media too.
Stash is also a good one for grandpa
looks like extreme nitpicking without any real issues beyond some VC funding a FOSS issues.
//whyre you spamming the comment to everyone? its quite alarmist actually

2·5 days agoThis seems like a fun idea but you just started it five hours ago? How developed even is this?
It’s a nice concept and honestly a better concept than peertube which will never go anywhere

Who is pretending a series of books written over two thousand to three thousand years has a singular message? Lol
I think someone can always do something. Refuge cities and churches have been a thing regardless of “society” or the governments actions
This sort of comment can only exist on twitter. Do nothing, complain in a sassy manner
Also use frigate and amcrest. Works well! Cameras are only $50 a piece. Running on an old Optiplex. VLANed off from the internet. Amcrest cameras do need to be disconnected from the internet via VLAN though, they ping home an absurd amount, for what idk.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•With IMDB forces users to sign-in to see reviews, what legitimate alternatives are there? Particularly FOSS.English
2·7 days agoAre reviews federated between servers? Some servers have no reviews and some are solely in Chinese. It seems there is no federation and no auto translate?
Otherwise the main instance seems to have a ton of reviews though if you don’t read Chinese you’re out of luck.

Why would you pay for something, now annually, that is essentially a bad Linux webgui , which can be easily achieved for free with any Linux distro? Outside of mixed drives…
