i like it! is it from anything?
It actually is! I tried it for a while and noticed its impact on reducing my hunger, reduced swelling (I could tell because the rings on my fingers were no longer “tight”), and its easy to make so there’s no excuse not to eat healthy.
for all the hate the guy gets, I do appreciate that he’s at least taking a science-based approach and publishes what works/doesn’t. The core building blocks he continually pushes people to follow are the basics we already know: good sleep, food and exercise.
Outside of the common sense he’s tried various protocols and only continues them if the biomarkers they’re tracking show some kind of improvement. He’s spending his millions to test things and publish data for us to use, I don’t see any harm in that. He’s even published basic meals (Super Veggie) that anyone can make to ensure they’re eating healthy and getting the most bang for their buck (nutrient to caloric content ratio).
pixels are supported for 7 years now, and older second-hand phone is still an option. but agree on privacy being a spectrum and not an absolute.
That’s true, but its not always about the server, people tend to download images/memes/etc with the intent to edit/share. If you were on macos and happened to download a webp image in the 10 years that Apple didn’t support them, you were in for some googling and/or frustration.
yeah macOS supports webp now (since ~2020), but it lacked support for a decade, causing frustration for its users and anyone trying to support macOS/Safari.
its interesting to me that this is only really an issue on proprietary OS’s (mac/windows) as i’ve never had an issue with any image or video formats when using linux. i use all three but linux is my primary OS. mac/windows mostly stay at work.
16 CVE’s for libjpeg just last year: https://app.opencve.io/cve/?vendor=jpeg
are these in-person conversations or on the internet with anonymous people? remember there are many trolls, bots, AI and paid actors to spread misinformation online. yeah, there are dumbass racists and fascists, but they are just a vocal minority.
Bitwarden and Cryptpad. Both open source and self hostable, yet I pay for both. paying for open source is possible.
Apologies, my point was not clear enough.
My response was aimed at your first sentence:
There could or could not be a God.
This makes it read like the likelihood of a god existing is 50/50. In reality, based on evidence, its much closer to 100% chance there’s no god; 0% chance there is one.
HEIC faces a few struggles with adoption:
AV1 and AVIF don’t have any of these issues –someone correct me if I’m wrong or missing something– so anyone is able to include/distribute the software and modify to their needs.
without evidence pointing to a god, we can easily dismiss the concept. “gods” were invented to explain the world before we had science. we have the tools and knowledge now to dismiss fairytales for what they are, interesting stories.
The guy in the video claimed the year is 2020. Any info on this? I agree with what he says, but would be great to have context and a year in the title. Without context this makes it seems like this just happened.
Just thousands of regular people manually downloading the WhatsApp client for iOS
Not trying to discourage people from doing this, but they likely have caches or rely on CDN’s that wouldn’t really show any impact of any kind. Even if they do, a single day of being “down” is not doing much. For it to be effective people would need to continue this for weeks, and I don’t see anyone caring enough to do that— they’re not even willing to ditch facebook/twitter/whatsapp, we think they’re going to maintain a DDoS attack?
Same issue with uploading encrypted backups to Amazon Drive/Google Drive/OneDrive, etc; there’s already built-in limits that protect them, and at the end of the day you’re just using what you already paid for. If you fill up your storage you have to pay them more to use it. Not a good strategy IMHO. The only real way to hit their wallet is to leave their ecosystem.
The no internet doesn’t make sense to me. We’ve already paid for the bandwidth, we’d just not be using it? May be better to advise people to switch to Firefox and install uBlock origin or ditch Whatsapp to hit Meta/Facebook where it really hurts. But I guess that’s not as easy to communicate.
if a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance; thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance

The world would be better off if everyone with racist views disappeared today. Let’s not defend those who would not hesitate to oppress us.
fuuuuuuck hulk hogan, that racist maga supporting piece of shit is looking up at us now 🙏
They do, but just like anything dealing with security or privacy, there are degrees of inconvenience and “breaking” that are not suited for every situation.
Firefox is a good default, but if you want more privacy, LibreWolf is an option. LibreWolf configures more settings by default to protect your privacy— but these come at a cost. The cost being that more websites are likely to break and/or need “fixing”. Look at the list of features that LibreWolf may break here [0]. This is not a browser for your general family or someone who just wants things to “work”.
Interestingly, LibreWolf disable Google Safe Browsing, which they actually recommend you enable as Firefox has implemented it in a privacy preserving way. The devs disable it by default in LibrewWolf for a semi-technical reason [1]. Without Google Safe Browsing you will not get warned about dangerous sites known for phishing, malware, or unwanted software. Technically inclined people may not want this, but I would never disable this feature for friends/family as that would put them at risk.
Lastly, if your friends/family ran into website that doesn’t work, they will not be troubleshooting the problem or trying to find a workaround. They will uninstall the browser and go running back to Chrome- this is the fine line that Firefox needs to navigate to ensure they protect user privacy, but don’t inconvenience those who don’t have the technical chops or patience.

Nature has a way of warning others, just look for a red hat or American flag
