Not with that attitude you can’t!
Not with that attitude you can’t!
In many cases that kind of answer is correct though. People ask for things that aren’t a good idea on a regular basis. Sometimes what they want is correct for their circumstances, but often not.
There is a manual pre-installed on your machine for most commands available. You just type man and the name of the thing you want the manual for. Many commands also have a --help option that will give you a list of basic options.
I should point out this isn’t Linux specific either. Many of these commands come from Unix or from other systems entirely. macOS has a similar command line system actually. It’s more that Linux users tend to use and recommend the command line more. Normally because it’s the way of doing things that works across the largest number of distributions and setups, but also because lots of technical users prefer command line anyway. Hence why people complain about Windows command lines being annoying. I say command lines because they actually have two of them for some odd reason. Anyway I hope this helped explain why things are the way they are.
First comment I have seen here that’s even half intelligent. Most people seem to be confusing leftists with Democrats.
Biden is not even close to far left.
Honestly your asking the wrong person here. I would suggest maybe starting with Krapotkin or Bakunin who were some of the early anarchists. That or just looking up anarchist philosophy and history. Anarchists have a history fighting against both fascism and some marxist tendencies like the Bolsheviks.
They definitely do have positions and beliefs. I am not sure how much you actually understand anarchism. Anarchist “nations” have even been established before, but they tend to get invaded sooner or later. While they do sometimes ally with Marxists you would be correct in thinking they have few permanent allies. Hence the getting invaded part I guess.
I think we all like law and order
Have you never met any anarchists?
KDE has settings for extra mouse buttons. Linux Mint is kind of behind in several areas unfortunately.
Probably KDE settings can deal with this. At least that worked on mine. Hyprland also has stuff for remapping extra mouse buttons.
You think that Labour are hard left? They literally kicked out all the actual communists and other far left people years ago. I don’t think you have ever seen what real far-left organizations look like or believe - I actually used to be a member of one some time ago if you wanted to ask. You’re either misinformed or a lot further right than you claim. It doesn’t surprise me people are applying that label to you given what you have just come out with.
While I agree in principle I don’t think that would necessarily change the results in this case as labour was the best mainstream option in that case. The conservatives had messed up badly and lost public confidence, bleeding votes to both Labour and Reform.
You clearly haven’t been around here much. There are loads of very far left communities and servers including dbzero, hexbear, lemmygrad, lemmy.ml, and so on. Sure there are right wing and libertarian parts as well on different servers. In fact this place largely attracts radicals and extremists of multiple flavors.
I regularly get canned for not being far left enough actually. Despite being further left than easily 95% of people.
Yeah this is terrible from a security and usability point of view. Just stop using proprietary bs systems. Why do you think so many technical people use Linux and avoid IoT devices like the plague? So we don’t have to deal with companies doing stuff we don’t like without a choice.
Because it’s a lot simpler and avoids the issue of dealing with printer drivers on all your machines.
I don’t know the context here because I am not American. That being said I can see it being useful that there is a record somewhere that someone has transitioned and what medical steps this involved for no other reason than their safety. Things like HRT, or any kind of surgery can have serious complications. Even gender dysphoria itself can lead to suicide. There should be some mechanism in place for Doctors to get this information quickly, and by nature that would probably involve the government. It should obviously be protected information like any other piece of medical data not available to all government workers unless it directly concerns their responsibilities.
If someone isn’t comfortable speaking from their main account (which apparently isn’t the case here) then that’s more of a sign the community needs to change and be more open to differing points of view. It’s not always a problem with the individual, and implying that to be the case when it clearly isn’t is a toxic thing to do.
Reread his comment. He says that getting them involved is probably harmful, but that it’s difficult to conduct conclusive studies without doing harm to children.
You understand that technical people often are the least likely to trust new technology and are often stuck in the mud when it comes to technology? Doubly so if you are anti-corporation. It seems anything that isn’t the Unix way of doing things can be questioned.
There is a good meme about people who love technology vs people who actually work with the stuff. The former using IoT devices to turn their lights on while the latter uses a light switch and has a gun in case the printer starts making weird noises.
Reminds me of that one cop show from the BBC that covers an internal affairs and anti-corruption team. It’s called Line of Duty.
