  • I’ll cop to not having read the article and I’ll say I might, but I can think of some pretty good ones. It’s so children and teenagers can tell people when something bad is happening to them. Like being in a child marriage. Or being abused. Or being shot at in school. Or when their community is being preyed upon. Or when they’re in a cult. Or when they’re kidnapped and they have a phone. Or when they need to advocate for themselves against policy that chiefly affects them. Or when they’re afraid something is happening to their friends. Or when they’re suicidal. Or when they’re lost. I could probably come up with a hundred of these. The thing is that children and teens are half-finished people and we afford people certain rights. So we need to decide if we’d rather treat kids as human or as another group of pawns to control. I loathe this debate.

    I’m not saying the French haven’t achieved great things with fire but I am begging people on Lemmy or Reddit or Bluesky or whatever to watch the fuck out for agitators trying to push the mass toward a violent/riotous state. You do not want to push the admin to sick dogs on you and declare martial law purely because of ~~ vibes ~~.

    Corollary;

    a) We all know that if Fox can reasonably photoshop your demonstration to look bad, admin has what it needs. This isn’t a counterargument.

    b) We all know things are really fucking bad. I don’t have a good answer.

    c) Just remember the French got their reputation over the course of centuries after the Terror. Americans don’t have that historical baggage.

    Just don’t get got by psyops, people. Tell Umbrella Man to fuck off and start filming anyone trying to change the tenor of your event.

    Perhaps the future will make my apparent timidity look foolish but nevertheless there is a concerted effort going on in these comments to ratfuck this particular movement’s goals and methods.

    Because you fell for an international psyop and gave up on democratic princaples the opportunity was lost to push the democrats left. It would take more than one election cycle to untangle the century long project of Zionism from the American imperial interest, but perhaps a new generation of staunchly left young voters could have made the difference. I’m sorry good things take time and work, but your worthless attitude is now killing more people than were dying initially. Palestine and Israel have been fighting for a long time but there was a path toward a two state solution that was recognized by the international community. But accelerationists, nazis, and supposed leftists teamed up to fuck that all up. Now Republican white nationalists backed by a core of evangelical apocalypse cultists have all the power. They believe Israel is the key to starting the end of the world and bringing Jesus back. And they also hate coloreds, queers, and free thinkers. If you don’t understand that things could have been better, you’re a genocide enabling useful idiot.

    There is such a thing as less people dying. You chose maximum genocide. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars. Go directly to jail.

    I like it when there is more genocide. I do not like it when there is less genocide. Most optimal would be no genocide, but since that is not presently an option I cannot bear to choose the lesser of two evils. We are killing the men on Phobos and not the men here on Luna, and that is preposterous. The Indigo Lunarians are allowing the Martians to massacre the Phobians and may yet be persuaded through activism and the work of special interest groups out of even that, blech. We should empower the Rouge Lunarians to continue the campaign on Phobos, increase the flow of weapons and money to the Martians, and also begin a campaign of genocide here on Luna, since the notion of choosing less or more genocide is flawed and the internal collapse of our wholly evil Lunarian Imperium is all that really matters anyway. Then if there is time we can ride out to Phobos and liberate the one or two Phobians that survive. I am an apogean leftist and a humanist. Lunarians should all die for being wrongheaded, and I care little for any refugee of blighted Terra fool enough to seek refuge on Luna. Down with the Indigo Lunarians. If you are concerned for the fate of the Phobians, vote for the third party Viridis Lunarians or don’t vote at all. Not that voting works.

    I loathe the moral inconsistency of liberal Lunarians.

    This is you. This is how you sound. You sound like a fucking moon man.

  • I first started seeing this on reddit (who knows where it actually came from though) which I believe schools its users to want to say SOMETHING, ANYTHING for attention and engagement. I agreed with or rather understood its meaning at one point but this phrase along with has “let me Google that for you” has fostered an abysmal internet culture. I think a much more servicable and sympathetic version of what this phrase was once trying to say, when said in good faith, should be “its not my responsibility to engage with this post right now”, which isn’t spoken aloud but is applicable to everyone online, and which I find myself thinking more and more when a comment makes me groan. The problem is how driven we all are to say SOMETHING, ANYTHING for attention amd engagement. I think it was a valuable realization at the time that felt so good to fire off uncritically on Twitter that people really hurt themselves, others, and the internet’s culture when they did.
