Ah yes, I forgot about the exhaustion! When I’m motivated I’m on fire and can go all day but when I’m in a lull just getting some tools out of the cupboard feels like too much.
It’s funny what the barriers can be as well, like getting the tools could feel like a massive pain, but once I’ve got them the enthusiasm comes back and I’m on my way again. Sometimes I have to sit and try to work out what the blocker is and make that one small task the priority.
Sorting stuff out is a big job, it’ll feel so good when it’s all done!
I used to start projects, get overwhelmed then give up and start a new one (mostly home renovation stuff).
Since diagnosis I’ve learned to break things right down as you suggest and fully complete each task before moving on.
For example I’m decorating my dining room and won’t move onto the next wall until the previous one is finished. In fact one wall has a couple of alcoves which are a bit fiddly, so for that one I’ve broken it down even smaller to finish one alcove before moving onto the next.
I’m half way through one of them (no progress/motivation since Christmas) and currently more interested in garden related things, but in the mean time the room is still functional with just one iffy looking bit instead of it looking like a building site!
I used to beat myself up for not being able to finish things, so it’s nice to finally be able to relax and ride those waves!
There’s also Mensinator which I’ve been using for basic period tracking. No tracking, European and built by women.
posteo going well for me too!
Despite SMS not being secure I’m determined to stop using WhatsApp and haven’t installed it on my new phone. My old phone has WhatsApp business with an auto reply saying to contact me on signal or send a text. Granted I don’t have a huge contacts list but 4 people have started using Signal and the rest send a text, so this is good news in my book.
This is such a good idea, thanks for sharing!
Waiting for my data export to come through from Amazon then will be deleting my account. Facebook, Insta and WhatsApp already gone then it’s just Google to deal with!
This is a question I’ve been pondering too. I’m not a huge TV watcher anyway but might want to watch the odd movie here and there still.
I usually use my work laptop for personal bits and bobs which is Ubuntu but I turned on my personal Microsoft PC recently to do some stuff and couldn’t believe all the pop-ups and noise! I promptly moved all my data onto a external drive and did a fresh install of Ubuntu.
I’m using an app called Thunder and I have voting turned off for posts. For threads I have an up vote arrow when the comments are expanded, but if I collapse them I can see the count, which kind of does what you’re asking? No idea how I managed to get that configured though.
I honestly don’t know how anyone’s been able to code anything predominantly using AI that’s production worthy.
Maybe it’s the way I’m using AI, and to be honest I’ve only used chatGPT so far, but if I ask it to generate a bit of code then ask it to build on it and do the next thing, by about the third or fourth iteration it’s forgotten half of what we talked about and missed out bits of code.
On a number of occasions it’s given me a solution and when I questions it about the accuracy of it and why a bit of it probably won’t work I just get oh yes let me adjust that for you.
Maybe I’m doing AI wrong I don’t know, but quite frankly I’ll stick with stack overflow thanks.
I’ve been trialling Here We Go in my quest to move away from Google and like it better than all the others so far.
Thank you! I literally signed up 30 mins ago after seeing Lemmy mentioned a few times on Reddit. I’m at the ‘what the heck is this, where am I’ stage but feel like I understand how it works a bit better now!
FWIW I’ve been using Ubuntu desktop with CasaOS for a couple of months now to host Nextcloud, Jellfin, Immich and a few other bits and bobs with absolutely no issues at all so far!
