But IT WAS too dark! If only they raised the gamma by .08…
The “humans are space orcs” trope portrays humans as vastly different and superior to aliens,
Don’t you mean “humans as vastly different and inferior to aliens”? I always got the feeling that HASO was more about humans doing things in a completely unexpected and rather grotesque way from the point of view of aliens, but it somehow works out. Humans are Space Orcs, because aliens see humans as we humans see orcs: Brutish and not too bright, but yet they can accomplish anything.
The whole “humans are so much better than all aliens” thing is usually HFY territory. As a side note, a lot of HFY works out there are more like Humans are Mary Sues. Which can be quite tiring. I find that to not be the case with HASO.
When I get that, it usually means my instance server is rebooting or something of the sort.
And the secret message is “I, Ramses II, am buddies with the gods, and all around awesome guy.” Why keep that a secret?
I’m doing it, but no print is coming through. I don’t think I know how this works.
I prefer quieter keyboards too, but I also like the occasional loud clack I get from the stabilizers on enter and space keys. Especially enter, it feels… definitive, like completing a task.
That’s a nice one, by they are absolutely the exception. Another cool one is !stick@sh.itjust.works. The other site had Just guys being dudes which was also cool.
What a beauty!
But that empty space where the Ctrl key was supposed to extend to would drive me up the walls mad. The lack of a vertical double enter key on the numerical keypad doesn’t appease me either.
Don’t call my dubious food like that.
sudo apt install synaptic not an option anymore?
Anyway, if you like synaptic, you might like aptitude, which has a TUI that is quite similar to Synaptic’s GUI. (Aptitude is the OG though)
Oh yes, like the Linux Kernel Mailing List, for instance, renowned for its chill vibe.
Okay, do you sell this?
Yeah! Most of us have other stupid bullshit to endure.
Though seriously, most don’t deserve to be alone. Most were dealt a shit hand, with no positive examples of masculinity, and simply don’t know better. Giving an alternative to the toxic patriarchical paradigm is essentially this community’s mission.
Wide-screen desktop Lemmy browsing!
Jean-Guillaume Olette-Pelletier, an Egyptologist and cryptologist from the Catholic University of Paris, claims to have discovered seven previously undocumented messages carved into the 13th-century BCE Luxor Obelisk. Altogether, the inscriptions were intended to establish Pharaoh Ramses II’s divine authority in the eyes of the ancient Egyptian elite.
What’s a cryptologist anyway? Studies crypts or cryptography?
Some (perhaps all) of the new messages were hidden in the hieroglyphs themselves, a technique known as “crypto-hieroglyphs” used by the ancient Egyptian elite that today only six Egyptologists in the world are able to interpret, according to La Brújula Verde.
So looks like Gizmodo is sourcing this from The Green Compass, which looks like a sensationalist news from their homepage headlines. Well, let’s hope Mr Olette-Pelletier publishes his paper soon.
Help me step Spock, I’m stuck in the dryer!
I was surprised I was blocked from editing even after logging in. They do hate some IP blocks.
ICANN,
You don’t have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don’t have to sell your TLDs to the night
No clue, but they could use nice
.
Doh, I completely missed the part about multiple instances and working on the browser. Yup, something was afoot with the app.
