I know there’s a lot of folks you could list there that did great things for our country, but in my personal opinion changing how we elect our representatives is so fundamental to the functioning of the country not even universal health care compares.

We don’t need more firearms in personal hands when it comes to our national defence, we need alliances, a better standing army, and probably some form of nuclear deterrence. Thinking you’ll make any meaningful difference with your personal firearm and a couple of hours on the gun range is the exact same magical thinking 2FA nuts keep using while the US government takes their rights and freedoms away.
While I agree with your main point (which to me sounds like “don’t let your cats outside as they’re an invasive species and will do serious damage to the local ecosystem”), suggesting to kill them on sight is a bit harsh and won’t make you many allies.
We have much more humane options to capture, return, and if needed rehouse cats. Remember that these objectively invasive animals are also people’s companions, and that some folks simply don’t know better than the old belief that “cats should roam”.

I do believe however that there’s a middle point somewhere between “no system in place at all” and eugenics.
Taking kids away from their parents through CPS should be a last resort on a long path that starts with mandatory education on how to raise your kids using pedagogically approved methods.
Of course that also requires a system of support services and funding for various social programs, so this will probably go nowhere in today’s political landscape.

I’m going to probably rustle some jimmies saying this, but it continues to baffle me how we’re okay as a society to put up a multitude of barriers to adoption in order to protect the child, but we’re totally fine with anyone conceiving without any sort of mandatory education on how to care for a child and some process in place to flag potential unfit parents for review/etc.

We’re quite jealous of your voting system here in upside-down Australia. We just had another “vote strategic” moment that resulted in all of the minor parties losing influence just to keep the conservatives out of power. Trudeau’s biggest lasting failure will be his inability to actually pass vote reform like he promised, and FPTP will eventually result in us graduating from US-light to full on US-two-party-ism.
