Show me a Pixel with two days of battery life with heavy use. My 8a lasts about a day, sometimes less. Similar reports for a friends 8a and my brother’s 7a.

I use atomic distros on my server and a media centre, but don’t see any reason to do it on my main systems. Stability is fine, and atomic distros make said tinkering more difficult.
On the one hand, I don’t doubt it’s gotten worse. On the other hand, I’ve always heard stories about US immigrations being unreasonable, entirely humourless, and possibly detaing you or sending you back for the smallest mistake or omission.
Apartment person here. I use electric. An electric train, that is.
I mean, I get all that, but even if we leave out the conditions that might or might not be present in the prison, and how many of the inmates might be innocent (how would we know, without the possibility of due process), I don’t see how anyone could justify rounding up people from the US, who where in many cases in the immigration system (meaning not “illegal immigrants” in the classical sense) in the streets and sending them to a prison in a different country, with no legal representation, no contact, and no knowledge of what will happen to them long term.
It’s practically government sanctioned kidnapping.
What is “zero idleness” but forced prison labour, and what is forced prison labour if not slavery?
Also, while I don’t disagree that it used to be worse for many El Salvadorians, that doesn’t mean one should be silent about the total lack of any process with which alleged gang members are being imprisoned there, seemingly for life. If you want to claim that’s worth it, that’s your prerogative, and as someone who’s never been to El Salvador, neither before nor after the crackdown, I don’t think I can judge it. Still, you can’t ignore the issue.
In my experience in Germany it’s just available. Only for the business focused models, but still.
I’m pretty sure they’ve been doing that for a long time. The other more business focused OEMs too.
Graphene doesn’t. The way I see it is like buying a laptop with pre-installed Windows, and replacing the OS.
As I said, two things can be true. He’s a dick, but I still think he’s right about this.
I am honestly not informed enough to say whether the whole Ghibli trend grew organically, or whether it came from OAI marketing.
And yeah, Myasaki can be a bit of a dick, but I don’t think he’s wrong here. I worked with both LLM and image generation for some personal projects, and you have to coax it a lot to get anything halfway usable, and even then, it isn’t great. Even stuff that’s heralded as exemplary by the corps behind the trend mostly seems kinda shitty.
Also, even if you like GenAI, most of the stuff that OAI is doing right now feels like desperate attempts to keep the hype train rolling, to justify their frankly ludicrous valuation.
Because Myasaki has very publically spoken about thinking AI generated stuff is horrible and soulless, and that he’d never use it. Them coming out with a Ghibli filter felt like it was a reaction to that.
I don’t think anyone says the Ghibli filter is copyright infringement. You can’t really copyright an art-style. It’s just kinda a dick move.
First SanDisk, then Samsung. The Samsung ones usually lasted a bit longer.
I think the Card that has held up the longest (still in use, currently in some Raspberry Pi) is one from SiliconPower. Also, some Samsung 128 and 256 cards (from their Endurance Series I think) that I gave away to a friend who uses them in her camera.
I gotta admit I don’t really care. Back when I used MicroSD Cards in my phone, they kept dying, and even midrange phones now have more internal storage then I need.
I can see why people want the option, but I personally haven’t missed it.
Didn’t know they where German. My main association with them is that their stuff is kinda ass.
They usually do it in the late evening, though. To make sure the tyre is sufficiently drained to be unmissable when the car is likely to next be used.
Yeah, uh, that looks like a chain. I never had chain coffee that wasn’t at best mid.
Recently needed to set up a Win11 VM. It worked after removing the network adaptor from the VM setup, and then using the bypassnro command.
Fucking Microsoft.
Makes sense, but with that setup, and a different custom rom on a phone with better life would deliver even better results.
I like my pixel, I like Graphene, but I still feel battery is a weak point.
