Games@lemmy.world•My trench knife, Artyom's from the game Metro 2033English
2·1 month agoThe plot of Metro Exodus is based on the book “Metro 2033: Beyond the Horizon” (this is a book from the expanded universe). There, the main character, a stalker nicknamed “Taran,” along with his crew, set off from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok on an MZKT-79221 missile carrier (which had its missile replaced with a fuel tank). The characters also crossed the Volga, visited Yamantau, traveled along the shores of the Caspian Sea and Lake Baikal, and finished their journey in Vladivostok

4·5 months agoFederal Surveillance Center K-21B

The Brotherhood of Steel are such assholes. I’m exploring this bunker, finally reach the bottom, and find a terminal to look up the lore and history of this place, only to see… ‘DATA EXPUNGED. Ad Victoriam.’

Fallout@lemmy.world•Which country was the first to use Gauss weapons during the Anchorage Campaign?English
2·5 months agowas asking about the Fallout universe lore. I know that according to the lore, the Gauss rifle was invented by Germany. Which side was the first to use it on the Anchorage front? In theory, it should have been China, using the Gauss rifle as a way to counter power armor. But in the simulation, I didn’t see a single Chinese soldier with a Gauss rifle. Only on the posters.

Fallout@lemmy.world•Who do you think would win — the “Federals” (old government remnants) from Metro 2033 universe vs the Enclave?English
3·5 months agoAccording to Fallout lore, the NCR defeated the Brotherhood of Steel. Just regular infantry taking down an army of power-armored troops.
Plus, the Metro 2033 universe has some similar stuff too. https://metrovideogame.fandom.com/wiki/Exoskeleton

Fallout@lemmy.world•Who do you think would win — the “Federals” (old government remnants) from Metro 2033 universe vs the Enclave?English
4·5 months agoJudging by this footage, a group of soldiers with Kalashnikovs can take down power armor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiO8id3Supc
But yeah, the Enclave objectively surpasses the Federals in technology and logistics. Just remember how they crossed the entire USA from the west coast to the east coast on Vertibirds (2,500 miles). Meanwhile, the Federals barely managed to get from Omsk to Yekaterinburg (around 500 miles).
On the other hand, the Enclave is clearly inferior in numbers. In Fallout 2 (at the peak of their power), the Enclave’s total population ranged from about 1,000 to 1,200 people, including workers, politicians, and scientists.

Books@lemmy.ml•Pride City (An organization from the book universe "Metro 2033")
0·6 months agoYou’re right. This is homophobia at 200%. By describing Pride City, the author created a grotesque caricature of pride parades. (That’s why they look and behave like Mr. Slave from South Park).
However, in the same novel, he portrays an erotic lesbian scene involving one of the main heroines completely without any irony.

Fallout@lemmy.world•Why do the NCR (New California Republic) troopers in Fallout: New Vegas wear the Vietnamese People's Army helmet?English
4·6 months agoThe NCR helmet, judging by the sound of the fall, is made of metal. a thin sheet metal bender.
Which is logical. In the wastelands, trees are scarce, but scrap metal is everywhere.

51·6 months agoI guess it’s more rigid than a boonie? Might be a ballistic helmet with a pith covering?
It is made of compressed bamboo.

That’s a 20 cm (8-inch) ruler. The knife itself is 30 cm (12 inches). I put it there just for scale.
