Here’s the actual list for those who don’t want to click through Twitter and Google Docs
I’m going to be blunt. A Silent Voice is great. A Sign of Affection…doesn’t do anything for me. I only watched a few eps. MC is too infantilized IMO. “Be shy and cute and multiple attractive dudes will put in massive amounts of effort to get to know you, overcome your special needs and be your crutch”
I love the depiction in Silent Voice where MC doesn’t speak fluently but kind of grunts. But in A Sign of Affection her inner voice has perfect diction and that IMO completely takes away from the depiction of deafness. The anime director could have been more creative in how to express her inner “voice”, if an inner dialogue was needed at all
Thanks for the detailed reply! That story sounds longer than I expected, and interesting that it’s faithful to the game without much filler, maybe I’ll keep an eye on the manga then.
(Apologies if this is slightly off-topic as I’m not up to date on this manga)
I played a bit of the gacha game for this and read a small handful of the early manga chapters. I loved the character and clothing designs, leaning heavily on “cool” and “badass” more than sex appeal. Not that I dislike the latter at all, just refreshing to get a different aesthetic sometimes. The game was also impressive for a phone gacha game.
So my question: Is it worth following the manga, especially if I no longer play the gacha game? Does the story feel like it’s leading to a conclusion, or is it going to be drawn out forever, as a perpetual promo for the game?
Ohh good stuff. I definitely prefer regular food over magical food, in a food show. The worldbuilding here is fantastic.
This is the first time they cared about the medicinal value of food. It worked in a fantastical way reviving Marcille so quickly. I’d only thought about the food as regular food until now. I suppose it makes sense mystical monster meat can have exaggerated nutritional value.
Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai by Yoko Hikasa - Attack on Titan ED1. The melody is a startling contrast from the anime itself. Unlike the action packed and destructive anime, the song is gentle and pure, sad and foreboding, but with a measure of strength. Like someone (namely Mikasa, featured in the video) desperately fighting to hold on to something that will inevitably escape their grasp.
I love the Oshi no Ko OP so much. YOASOBI are awesome!
I generally love YOASOBI but don’t get why their song was chosen for Frieren’s OP. Probably just because of how popular they are as a performer. It’s a catchy song, but the style clashes so much and the Ending song (Anytime Anywhere by Milet) is way better of a match with that anime. Sorry to be a downer
Uncle from Another World / Isekai Ojisan is so, so good
My theory is Anne did care for Senshi, but his beard had gotten too gross since last time they met. Same reason Marcille’s water walk magic couldn’t support his weight. So he sank the kelpie, which made her distrust him and then attack him.
Loved that beard washing montage!
Yeah! Chocolate coins! I’m late to the episode but after the Lunar new year I was able to appreciate the coins better.
The holy water on ghosts was amazing. Love how it made ice cream after passing through enough of those ectothermic bodies. Marcille’s happy swinging feet got a lot of screen time 😆
I checked out the first episode. It’s unabashedly degenerate, and over the top. It’s a great start 😆
That makes sense to me, a hybrid of /c/anime and series-specific /c/s depending on popularity. That makes more sense than /c/episode_discussion since that’s categorized on the type of content, rather than categorized by a community of people interested in it. So I agree with the future vision. Appreciate you taking the time to explain!
I like what I’ve seen so far of Dungeon Meshi / Delicious in Dungeon, 4 eps or so. Marcille’s reactions are priceless! Subbed 😄
Oh so !episode_discussion@ani.social is getting phased out from the sound of it. I’m out of the loop and was curious how that community fit into the picture, this cleared it up, assuming I interpreted correctly.
Thank you for your hard work! I’ve been lurking here a while and see you’re contributing so much content, awesome 😄
I haven’t seen Date a Live, what do you like about it? I’ve seen the red goth lolita girl in fan art, and the title sounds familiar, it seems to get referenced a lot over the years. If they’re up to season 5 there must be something special about it huh?
This is great, I appreciate what you’re doing. Tbh I haven’t read many LNs but this is the right instance to be on for anime related communities. For whatever reason this is the post that got me to create my ani.social account finally, been lurking here a while - thanks for that!
I’ve been slowly working my way through Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. I’ve seen the anime, and I loved Muv-Luv Alternative so it’s nice to go back and experience the original story.
Even though I remember how most of the story goes, I’m enjoying it because of the comedy, and I like the serious parts too. I like how the writers flesh out the characters’ emotions and clearly draw from some real life experiences when it comes to relationships and drama.
