You did exactly the right thing (brother is a train driver). There are protocols for dealing with such arseholes, and he’s in a world of hurt right now. The railways take that sort of behaviour very seriously - not just the vilification laws apply here. Remember the emergency button next to each door - it’s there for this purpose.

If the weather clears up a bit, then the early early morning of Wed & Thur you can see the Eta Aquarid meteor shower, if that’s your jam. Apparently those mornings when the moon has set is when the shower will be at it’s peak.

3 day eventing. Nearly got there in my youf so what I really want is to be young again. Will accept showjumping as a mediocre substitute. Bugger anything that requires sore feet. The sweat, blood and tears go with the territory.

Fabric headboards are a complete pain to keep clean, especially if you have pets. The amount of hair that accumulates is mindblowing, and I worry about fleas/bedbugs etc. as they’re impossible to wash or clean properly. I have a wrought iron decorative head & foot, with sturdy iron rails holding them apart and sturdy slats. Its quite tall - mid thigh when standing next to it, but the underbed space holds my two spare guest mattresses easily and more besides.

Slats are a major point of failure in cheap beds, so if you get a Cpt Snooze or Fantastic Furniture bed, replace the slats with tongue & groove boards laid a little apart for ventilation. This also prevents cats from climbing up into the mattress from below and getting squashed by the coils (if any).

Champers all round I reckon. Victoria deserves it. Slightly less political idiocy than usual, though there’s still plenty to go around.
