The second amendment was created to remove leaders ability to act against the wills of the sovereign body politic using a standing army.
The founding fathers layout in Federalist Paper 29 that they wanted there to be no standing army; only ad-hoc militias as defined by congress as trained by the states in case of national defense.
This was to keep the president from acting like a king with a standing army to murder at his will.
Now we got everyone armed up to the fucking teeth.
-now we have the largest standing military in the world;
-fully armored and armed police federal, state, and municipal;
-mercenary groups fighting our wars;
-local militias fighting each other under color of law;
-armed llc’s fighting for the propertied;
-individuals with grudges against civilization;
-US firearms flooding other countries;
-teenagers killing classmates;
-a delivery gig economy with workers getting shot by their customers;… and no one is out of range.
The second amendment is a huge failure of the American experiment.
The second amendment was not created to act against our government. It was created to defend our country from without.
It is time to repeal the second amendment.
