  • I think if you’re not ready to deal with the possibility of random acts of adventurism, then you are not ready to deal with a revolution. Because what do you think is going to happen as the conditions for a revolution increase? Something like this happening is almost inevitable, and we certainly won’t see revolution without more incidents like this happening. What do you think is going to happen in a revolution? Do you think you can achieve that without somehow inciting the full strength of what the government can do to stop us? Like if we somehow just managed to stop every single individual from ever considering adventurism (which is impossible), that we could do revolution peacefully, or without inciting them to crack down? Like sure, we can agree that what this person did wasn’t well thought out, but this shit is going to happen as conditions worsen. It’s not about not giving them an excuse, they will find an excuse if they want to, even if this didn’t happen.

I’m probably overreacting to this, but as someone trapped in this country, living in poverty, already unable to afford anything, I just see this as “I wish things were worse for you”. This isn’t about a new iphone, I’ve never had an iPhone or been able to afford one. I don’t want one. Comments like this have just been really bothering me. Any time someone bad is happening here, someone will jump in to say basically “oh, good thing I don’t live there, haha, americans are so fucked”. Like, I get it. America as a country is bad. Or government is evil. The average person here is incredibly stupid and practically frothing at the mouth. But people are so eager to express joy that the bad americans are suffering that they say shit that throws the struggles of those of us trapped here who do not want any of this under the bus
