This corny meme implies that philosophy majors become flat-earthers, etc.

No, most philosophy majors still believe in gravity. While flat-earthers cease to believe in gravity once they realize that a flat earth is incompatible with gravity. They replace it with this notion that the earth disc (and the rest of the system) is accelerating upwards through the void at 9.8 m/s^2.

Though I’ve come across some interdisciplinary studies types who would probably argue that gravity is a social construct because we describe it with language.

The set of all primes is the same size infinity as the set of all positive integers because you could create a way to map one to the other aka you can count to the nth prime. Reals are different in that there are an infinite number of real between any two reals which means there’s no possible way to map them.

Like, most kids in the US had Tylenol. Most kids don’t develop autism.

Except the claim being studied is that Tylenol might cause autism when administered to the mother while pregnant. There are a lot of drugs that will cause a problem to a fetus when administered to a pregnant woman, but do not cause that problem when administered to someone outside the womb. Building a human from scratch is a fiddly process.

Or they WANT them to feel pain.

In their myths, a woman explicitly incapable of knowing the difference between right and wrong strayed from absolute mindless obedience to sky daddy, so all women have to suffer forever, and anything that reduces that suffering is inherently evil for opposing the will of sky daddy.

Not to defend RFK, but this argument is dumb.

People from everywhere it doesn’t natively grow developed cancer long before they had access to tobacco. That doesn’t prove tobacco use doesn’t cause cancer, it just means it isn’t the only potential cause.

  • Female streamers don’t have that fake obnoxious rage yell/scream the guys do.

Eh, guys with the fake rage scream are about as common as the ladies who see Twitch as essentially a starter camsite/way to advertise their OF and are trading on boobs more than anything else. There absolutely are streamers on Twitch that are exactly what OP suggests, but they’re far from a majority and probably not the one used in the picture.

  • If you had a universal cure for cancer today, wouldn’t you drop it immediately and not 6/7 central tomorrow?

No, it would need to spend at least a decade or two in trials to ensure it doesn’t cause turbo-cancer first. And it would only go that fast because it cured cancer.

See Vasalgel, a long term male contraceptive in development since 2011 which is the US branding for a slightly different formulation of RISUG, which was invented in 1979 and still isn’t approved for widespread public use anywhere.

  • Was going to be my second pick after the considerably more niche VR.5. Which involved the MC entering the minds of people via modem because it was 90s scifi about virtual reality. It also tended to be trippy as hell in a way that is just amazing. Also basically impossible to find without sailing the seven seas, and not easy even then.

Was going to throw Kindred: The Embraced in as a third choice. Also considerably more obscure than Heroes, it was basically a White Wolf Vampire: The Masquerade TV series.

  • No idea how that happened, even as I saw it first hand.

The answer there is simple - it only takes a few cases of liberal-ish mainstream media being dishonest or disingenuous to get people willing to believe the media sources that say they’ve been lied to by those, and at that point they just fall deeper and deeper into that rabbit hole. The other side doesn’t have to be honest at all, they just have to be ready to catch when liberal media fucks up and then claim that they are continuing to do so the rest of the time. It’s pretty insidious.

Take for example CNN after Sylville Smith was shot by police, describing his sister’s speech as a “call for peace” with a clip that literally cuts off her message at the end of the sentence before she tells them to go after white neighborhoods instead. Which reads as obviously dishonest in a world where they weren’t the only ones recording and social media is a thing. That hands a bunch of folks to the likes of right wingers willing to point out the truth in that case, and claim liberal media is lying the rest of the time too. Once you’re in their echo chamber, it’s harder to see out and are already predisposed to believe liberal media is lying to you which doesn’t help.

  • Food doesn’t simply erupt out of the ground on its own, not in quantities necessary to feed any kind of significant population. Farmers do in fact have to do labor to produce crops.

The bit about food not simply erupting from the ground on its own in quantities sufficient to feed a significant population goes double for cities where you have lots more people and lots less growing land.

  • “Brianna Wu is a fucking idiot”

Ahh, I remember when saying anything less than utterly complimentary about Wu was considered transphobic and misogynistic.

She got an awful lot of free passes and clout from “these people are mad at me, and they are mostly right wing” about a decade ago.

And holy fuck was her game terrible. Like bad enough that when I got to try it at PAX East it stood out how awful it was, to the point that when she popped up in other contexts my immediate reaction to the name was “the dev behind that terrible mobile game from PAX”. You always expect some indie stuff to not land with you, but usually that sort of thing is at worst forgettable. But this one was so bad it circled all the way back around to memorable, but in the bad way.
