I think the show varies from the books so much that they can only be considered loosely related. That said I mostly enjoyed this season, though I do occasionally struggle to remind myself to keep it separate from the books so that I can enjoy it .

Holy shit, the tariffs were good for America! No, I will not be accepting other data points
They’d show for that, imagine the bragging rights
until the rate of profit improves
(it will not)
I can remember this back to the Bush adminsitration
I get the point you’re making & you won’t find anyone here that disagrees but putting “Thanks Biden” in between every line break really harms the readability and stops adding anything pretty quickly
my boss constantly says “denial of reality does not change reality” (i.e facts don’t care about feelings) and it drives me insane.
The first one is still good as a stand alone if you go into it knowing the large scale stuff won’t get resolved, like a slice of life piece in a fantasy setting.
I hadn’t heard the claim that the trilogy was complete. My understanding is that he was writing these with his dad. Once his dad died he basically just stopped.
The part he did that was shitty was a kickstarter/donation drive for something with the promise that if a target was hit he’d read a chapter of book 3 and that played out like a grift.
This project is supposed to be complete in 2050, so I assume this is just existing track that they were able to claim for development but have to replace.
more women sex criminals, the liberal dream
This is absolutely a reasonable thing to criticize
I thought the first season of Westworkd was incredible but made it to about where you did in the second which was bad before I dropped it. Apparently the next seasons were terrible, they had the set burn down in the CA wildfires and then general Covid problems and they never got it together.
Fair enough. Similar to the prevailing liberal thinking that kids are a luxury lifestyle that shouldn’t be available to the poor.
I get where you are drawing from but I don’t think this crosses over into eugenics. I interpreted this as being about cruelty/abuse not “too stupid to have kids” stuff.
yeah, I felt bad about responding after I scrolled down and saw another sub-thread. Your point about unintended consequences is valid, the context of the example is hard not to reject. Suprised I didn’t see anyone bring up non-local drivers, which I think allows a less direct rebuttal.
not the person in the chain, but it came across something like “trying to change an unsafe driving culture is the real problem”
by current demographic trends, ceases to exists in 50 years
hey, I wonder why that is
I struggle to keep other countries’ political parties straight but I recall feeling like Singh was kinda a liberal coded conservative, like Biden or the typical Blue Dogs. Is that accurate?
edit: Thanks all
