4·21 hours agoThis will force many of those to upgrade their current technology (which also helps Roger/Fido because they offer the upgrading services) or pay the fee.

Five-year prohibition, David MacNaughton, Palantir Canada (March 2021)
Don’t fall for the hasbara that Israel spreads.
Hamas is only one of many resistance groups in Gaza. And the ideologies range massively from far left to far right. It’s how they’re able to sustain a prolonged resistance against Israel’s constant aggression.
Focusing on Hamas’s leadership - they have been mostly centrist and advocate for equal rights of all, with outliers that are more right wing and Israel repeatedly kills off the moderates in the party for a reason. Israel wants the hardwingers to be more prominent. Israel even wanted to bring back Ahmedenijad as president of Iran and that guy is the poster child of “death to the infidels”.
You’re also equating Palestinians with Hamas too, don’t do that.

World News@lemmy.ml•"Israel: What Went Wrong?": Holocaust Scholar Omer Bartov & Haaretz's Gideon Levy Debate Zionism
12·22 hours agoHmmm…i wonder what went wrong with an ethnocentric nationalist political ideology that was created in the mid-late 1800s. It’s almost like something similar to that in an established state already tried to implement it to the detriment of many people.

2·1 day agoIt’s definitely important to see what the PM decides to focus on and communicate. Canadians need to be more politically involved rather than avoid their political leaders.

3·2 days agoThis has already been reported on, and it’s actually Israel that currently hacks the cars onboard e-sim to geo-locate. Also cars systems don’t have robust cyber security and can also get hacked through that e-sim.
But now it’s scary because China is sending cars over.
The working class struggle and the genocide are the same struggle.

World News@lemmy.world•Israeli Settler Council Issues Unprecedented Admission of Ritualistic Child Sexual Abuse After Broadcaster Exposes Cover-UpEnglish
2·2 days agoI still don’t know if I can make a generalization that it’s because Israelis are predominantly of a faith and therefore are cultish, and by extension likely to be abusers within the faith. In the end, a majority of Israelis are not religious and don’t subscribe to religious doctrine.
So I agree with your second paragraph:
I think these stats are a reflection of just how toxic Israeli culture has become in some areas. It’s a slippery slope from → these types of people are not human to → inhumanity applied to other groups, as we all know. Eventually it is applied on oneself when it becomes so ingrained in the culture.
And because of how sadistic and toxic the culture is, it’s even more apparent in the spinoff cults.
The context of the post and comment are about liberal zionism, and the extended context is that a liberal zionist is just as bad as a fascist, which is true. The big common denominator (amongst many other things) being genocide.
Israel has been largely headed by liberal zionists for the majority of it’s genocidal colonial history so far. It’s only recently that the rightwing have gained the majority they enjoy now. And they both agree on the genocide, just differ on the optics and language used.

World News@lemmy.world•Israeli Settler Council Issues Unprecedented Admission of Ritualistic Child Sexual Abuse After Broadcaster Exposes Cover-UpEnglish
10·2 days agoNothing satanic, it’s just abuse with some dressed up frills to get the victim to accept their abuse. And Israel is choke full of abusers.
Even a survey found that the majority didn’t think forcing another person into sex is considered rape.
College Study: 41 Percent of Women Students Don’t See Forced Sex With Acquaintance as Rape. 61 percent of the male students polled in a small college survey did not equate forced sex with an acquaintance as rape.
I think you misspelled “genocide”

World News@lemmy.world•South Africa made to look like fools after World Cup visa issues, says ministerEnglish
3·2 days agoSouth Africa isn’t a totalitarian state, it’s a proportional representative Republic. Which means that if a party has X percentage of votes and seats, they get a seat. South Africa have the GNU (government of national unity) coalition and McKenzie said that he would walk away if he wasn’t given a seat - thereby dissolving government. So he was given the sports ministry, the most insignificant position since the World Cup way back when. And in that role, he’s just pushed his racist rhetoric and corruption
How can you appoint someone like that (a convicted criminal)
- people serve their time and can run in elections and get voted in. Nelson Mandela did it.
So if someone wants to bring up something that they’re not very informed about, it’s called “muddying the waters” of discourse, especially when that person wants to try and push their rhetoric on whether Israel is apartheid and what South Africa’s more accepted stance is on the topic.
Like, why even bring it up if you don’t know much about the politics involved? What point are you arguing by saying that this voice in South African politics says that apartheid doesn’t exist? Should we argue the Jim Crow policies didn’t exist because some MAGAT said so and platform them?
