I tried the peanut but didn’t that it couldn’t be zero gapped. For beards I like the Wahl professional five star detailer. It can be zero gapped, which gives a close enough shave on my beard edges that I don’t bother with actually shaving. This has the added benefit of not causing any razor burn, but as with any zero gap clippers they can feel kind of sharp on the shin.

One down side is they only have 1/2, 1, and 1 1/2 guards. There aren’t any others available, either.

  • I used this process to convert a section of turf grass to native trees, shrubs, and ground cover. It worked great, and even two years later I don’t have any rogue grass trying to pop up there. The area where I mulched but didn’t cover with the plastic sheeting has also done pretty well, but there are still several recurrent patches of burmuda grass that I’m still fighting with.

  • The only time I’ve appreciated the life story was for a recipe for honeycomb candy. Candy making is notoriously finicky, and this author included all the information about their trials, errors, and troubleshooting. Of course when I search for it now all that comes up is the usual AI/SSO garbage. It’s probably for the best I didn’t save it, that stuff is addictive.

  • Just be aware that habitat conservation/restoration is rarely as simple as spreading some seeds. Sometimes removing some invasive plants that are out competing the natives is enough, other times is as complex as reintroducing predators. I would recommend finding a volunteer program to work with so you can ensure you’re helping where it’s needed most.

If you’re in the united states, I recommend checking out your state’s Master Naturalist program. In my state, it involved a short classroom training course with several “field trips” to help with the training process. The group helps coordinate volunteer opportunities in the community. The program is an offshoot of the Master Gardener program which I think focuses more on maintaining residential landscapes.

No matter what you decide to do, it’s great to want to help.
