Why is it that people who present themselves as morally superior often seem the least willing to forgive? Some would rather support establishment figures like Susan Collins or Janet Mills, politicians they view as helping sustain the policies and military interventions that created the problem in the first place, than support a former mercenary who ultimately turned against that system. It seems strange to condemn someone for what they once were while giving a pass to the institutions and leaders that continue to benefit from the same machinery.
That type of behavior benefits the Jeffrey Epstein Class. When the hell will we ever get shit done, if you cannot forgive or accept the people that are closest to the core of the system and have decided to help us? All you have to do is keep an eye on them. I’m not saying you should “blindly” support Platner, you should watch every single one of his moves to confirm he didn’t lie. Zohran Mandami has delivered so far, and people had a similar level of skepticism, but it was worse, because they hated him for being muslim, so.
If their only argument is the Nazi tattoo, that’s sad. It’s a very silly one. The point is that you genuinely think people can’t change, and that is really dangerous. And no, I’d not have these standards for people like Trump or similar, because they are already very old and adamant about who they truly are. Platner was a victim of this system, American Exceptionalism and American Imperialism (both still prevalent here in Lemmy; leftists who still want the USA to be the World Police, to intervene everywhere because they think they are Humanity’s smartest and best choice or whatever “heroic” Main Protagonist Syndrome nonsense they carry) propaganda, and at least Platner is teaching all those around him to wake up. I prefer that over the other choices, why won’t other people?

Exactly. This is exactly what I mean: people like you.
If that was a comment he made out of anger, I am more disappointed in you, for not being able to or at least try to see why he said that. You’re the kind of destructive person who rather forget than forgive.
This is the same shit MAGAs do to Muslims/Arabs. They all think they hate the USA “for no good reason / because it is ingrained in them / it is genetic / they get taught as children to hate the USA” but they always gloss over, ignore or skip the “why,” or don’t do justice to the truth. They really think 9/11 happened just because they are “violent in nature” which is such a dangerous and massive Nazi eugenicist talking point.
He obviously does not want that, dude. If anything, you are only showing me why he probably said that, and it’s because you keep disappointing Humanity with your racism, your excessive narcissism and the moral purity tests you do on everyone… I have personally said much WORSE, because I keep seeing my family die thanks to USA’s influence on Mexico and also the Middle East. My grand-grandpa was a Lebanese who escaped to Mexico, because Lebanon was being shelled by Israel and the USA a century ago. Now, in Mexico, we have a War on Drugs that kills 30,000 of us every year; a war on drugs that was forced upon us by Reagan and Nixon, and now the cartel is armed to the teeth with American weapons, our army isn’t, oddly enough, and their most profittable customer is the USA. It keeps us in fear, poor, terrorized, which makes us work for you for low wages, aka cheap labor for you, hence the reason you have us like this with a smile on your face.
And then I see you elect Trump twice, and self-called liberals like you commenting shit like this instead of focusing on the important stuff… Yeah, no. You lack passion and conviction for what you believe.
By the way, if you’re American, you paid for all that with your taxes (and if you’re not, you did it with your words), and you probably still do. You’re the one actually killing your own civilians, even if non-American. This system is global. It’s ironic, you probably can’t see it yet, but it is what it is. Stop looking sideways, look up.
