Good read, thanks
Oh gosh I ordered them. My mother who is well past retirement age asked for some to take to her job as a teacher’s assistant. No one would suspect her.
Work from home. It saves you a lot.
Forage for food
Grow a garden
Dried beans are an amazing value.
Buy not rent.
Learn Linux and reuse old computers. Corporations usually lease them and sell off old ones cheap.
Walk when possible.
Get multiple quotes for things.
Always haggle. I’ve haggled at Walmart.
Drink water if you eat out.
Foraging for plants.
It felt super silly the first time too. I’m glad I started doing this.
I am not sure what exactly the technique is called, I just followed a guide. You close your eyes and focus entirely on the flow of air entering and leaving your body. Just concentrating on breathing.
Forgive me, I am pretty new to all this. I picked up meditation around August of last year.
I’m newer to this. I know this may be a bit taboo, but I use meditation to relax before bed so I can sleep. I focus on a calm mind and breathing. I had pretty bad insomnia and it’s helped so much to do this.
I also get very stressed at doctor’s appointments and such and slip it in before while waiting. I went from near hospitalization levels of blood pressure to a normal blood pressure.
It’s amazing how much it helps.
Where I’m going is none of your business.
In all seriousness I’m pretty sure I always do. Even when no one is around. Just good habits.
Oh wow. That sounds awful
Clarified with a long reply on theirs. Feel free to ask any questions. It’s an interesting industry.
Some are, sure. But a lot are imported due to growing seasons. It’s not always practical to grow everything in a greenhouse. Water, lighting, and heating get expensive. You can’t insulate a greenhouse well because thet means less light.
Flower shops get shipped long waxed boxes packed with flowers end to end in order to do flower arrangements. Some flowers are also really prone to mold and stem breakage.
For example alstromaria, carnations, mums, ferns, baby’s breath, saladago, and salal all have great shelf life. Stay for 2 weeks to 3 months in a cooler.
But plants such as lilly of the valley have a short growing season. Gerbera Daisy is so fragile and actually are shipped with plastic straws.
There really isn’t a good way to bypass it. Flowers only grow when a plant is mature enough to produce seeds. From a gardening perspective it takes about 95-110 days for a tomato to go from seed to flowering/fruit. So every flower in your arrangement takes 3 months of planning from the seed.
Nope. Someone else asked that too.
I don’t think there will be an industry hit harder than flower shops.
Most flowers tend to be imported. People also value food and rent over flowers. So their costs go up, sales go down.
I double down and ask friends to swap pants with me.
I’d like to urinate from my thumbs at will.
I don’t want to eat the grass though.
