I found the specs a bit interesting. 52.7 kWh battery and a curb weight of 3,600 lbs is nearly identical to the Chevy Bolt, but this only has a range of 150 miles instead of 240. Is it really that much less efficient? The only thing I can think of is the aerodynamics, but that’s a 40% difference.
The sad reality is that, for the vast majority of people, that window closed a long time ago. Very few countries are willing to accept the number of Americans that want to leave. Even fewer are the types of countries that most Americans would want to move to.

The issue is that, while x265 is more efficient, it’s not THAT much more efficient until you get to 4k or high bitrates. Encoders using x265 tend to be overly focused on file size, and prioritize it over video quality. And that sort of makes sense - x265 needs a lot more decoding power, and excludes a lot of otherwise capable devices. Why would you do that to only save a small percentage of the space needed?

Generally speaking, I’ve found Lemmy to be far less accepting of different viewpoints than either Twitter or Reddit in their heyday. The echo chamber is extremely strong here, even though the “correct” narrative is different.
My primary reason for using free ESXi has been career development. VMware was the biggest player at all of the biggest potential employers, so it made sense to be familiar with.
These days, they’re all looking to jump ship. Some are actively migrating, others won’t get there at all.
But all of them now value experience in alternatives at least as much, if not more than VMware.
I’m still using free ESXi, but the next time I rebuild (i.e. new hardware), it will not be ESXi.
