Hell, I’m an em dash enjoyer.
Fucking Harry S. Truman got why this shit was a problem.
I’ve seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn’t believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don’t want a phony Democrat. If it’s a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don’t want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign. The original System Shock is one of my all-time favorite games, and the remake really did it justice.
On that note, a bit of a deep cut - Osman/Cannon-Dancer is a beautiful fever dream of a game I wish got more recognition. It’s a beat 'em up involving a martial artist tasked with killing a manmade god, thrust into a borderline incomprehensible web of betrayal as his former comrades all turn on him. The english release is kind of rough, which makes it actually incomprehensible at times. It’s also a sort-of sequel to Capcom’s Strider. I’d recommend it to any fan of EYE: Divine Cybermancy for the vibes alone.
Is AM from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream an inverse basilisk? (i.e. just kind of sits there torturing its creators for bringing it into a existentially compromised yet inescapable existence)
We’re backsliding into the bush years (but slightly more belligerent)
I’m gonna show up and whip my dick out
If you accept the premises of scientific racism, that pretty much requires you to embrace policy written by sadists in turn. Not worthwhile.
Dumb thought: The Larouchites and Patsoc crowd are basically just doing an edgier version of what guys like Matt Yglesias do in selling conservative policy as left wing policy.
I’m always kind of curious about the polish beer that’s really easy to get in my part of the 'states, but i’ve quit drinking to avoid setting back my diet
Well I ain’t feelin’ happy
About the state of things in my life
But I’m workin’ to make it better

Establishing that physical abuse and corporal punishment are normal early in life sets an expectation that high control institutions can exploit later in life. (Culture, political parties, religion, employers, etc.)
Ultimately a key cog in the same machine of uniformity that foists strict gender roles, heteronormativity, neurotypical-first culture and so on upon us.
If everyone is passively conditioned to behave in a tightly controlled way under threat of force by their ostensible guardians in youth, it’s not gonna seem unusual when various power players play off that same dynamic later in life.
Notably, this creates cycles of abuse as abused children go on to abuse their children - a self-reinforcing dynamic. Quite convenient for the aforementioned high control institutions.
I’m honestly surprised I haven’t seen anyone call the idea of imaginary numbers “new math” or “woke” yet
From what I understand of my dad, he was a pretty decent guy. He died in an accident about 25 years ago. What memories I have are pleasant, going over old photos suggests he was genuinely liked, and the surviving family have only ever spoken positively of him.
I’d have potentially been a better, less bitter person overall if he was still around.
Grown so stupid and decrepit that they lack even basic self preservation. Honestly begging to have their asses handed to them, but nobody around here has what it takes.
You can kitbuild a Radio-86RK from modern parts.
Iskra was Yugoslavian, not Soviet. They had a design called the Triglav that I find pretty interesting. Yugoslavian computing’s a fascinating ecosystem in general - owing to the lack of sanctions relative to the Soviet Union, they had access to a lot more western tech. The Galaksija was a modest-if-modern z80 kit computer while the Radio-86RK used a 8080 compatible CPU. (Ten year old tech at that point)
Takes me back to that ancient Fox News screencap.
They tell us here to buy american products…and then all the american products suck.
The national level party’s pigheaded “seniority above all else”, “don’t cut in line” thinking really needs to go.
