Why did Republicans run Trump again in 2024 with more or less the same strategy that lost the 2020 election? Was there any introspection between 2020 and 2024 or was 2024 just “2020 but even harder”? I didnt hear any chatter from the right that would indicate it was time to course correct from Trump and his loss in 2020… it was just rigged election talk and how amazing Trump is.
Politics is a messy thing, and given that nationwide presidents generally only win by like 2-3% its not like massive blowouts are happening. You could argue inflation alone was what lost the democrats the election this time around. Things like Joe dropping out far too late and Kamala campaigning with Cheney could have been the difference between winning and losing, and not any particular message
Its much more of a vibes thing than a knowledge thing. Politics operates on the monkey brain level for most voters, “Eggs expensive, Biden president now, Trump business man, Change to trump” kind of thing.
They dont look into what the IRA did or was, how our inflation compares to the rest of the world, real wages vs inflation vs buying power, they dont go look at historical examples of tariffs, etc… Its just “Eggs were cheaper in 2019 than now, lets go back to that”
And I completely agree, Democrats are absolutely dog shit at getting their victories out there
