One thing I’ve learned is that landlords love to tell lies about the renovations they’re going to do after you move in. The only time slumlords are ever motivated to fix shit is when they can’t rent it.

Not trying to victim blame, it shouldn’t be this way, but in the future demand the renovations before you sign the lease. I realize that’s hard when you need somewhere to live immediately.

Have you tried calling your local health department? A lot of health departments will do an inspection upon request, and they usually include safety items like unsafe electrical systems. In Massachusetts they have the power to issue fines and revoke the ability of the landlord to rent until they fix stuff.

Was the video the one looking into cars4kids? Because that was a legitimately good video. Cumtown is barely mentioned in it.

I worked at a place that sold them and dealing with those people was exhausting. I get they have an addiction and I have empathy for that, but they sometimes engage in that addiction in the most annoying ways possible.

I used to have all these people who wanted to know what number each book of tickets was on to look for patterns, or want to buy from a book that had a lot of winners, or buy from a book with few winners, or only want late/early in a book. Then they will proceed to lose $200 10 bucks at a time.

I’ve been in the bidet gang for 13 years, but I do not understand the no-tp bidet people.

Not only for drying after, but I usually use tp before the bidet as well. If I don’t, I’m blasting poo everywhere in my crotch area.

No income or sales tax in NH, but it’s not a good thing. It actually makes taxes regressive because property tax has to be so much higher to pay for the schools. People in poor communities pay sometimes 10x the property tax rate for much worse schools.

Regular blender? That’s what I used to do before I realized how cheap an immersion blender is.

They’re pretty limited in the kinds of work they can do, but the place they volunteer at is hiring an assistant manager. They talked to the manager about it and it sounds like they have the job as long as they can get past the person who initially reviews the resumes.

The hiring process is a little weird because the place is run by Catholic Charities even though it isn’t a religious organization. Someone from CC has to screen the applications first and do a background check, even though they already work there for free.

They’re super excited about this and I’m really proud of them for pushing past their discomfort and going for it.

I have one docker container that won’t restart after a reboot. It has “restart: unless-stopped”, just like all the containers that do restart.

If I run “docker compose up”, it immediately says “container name: running”, it doesn’t need to pull or anything.

I can’t find anything useful on Google, other than a GitHub issue with other people having the same issue and then it being marked stale.

It’s not that big a deal, but it’s annoying that it only happens with this one container. It’s not something wrong with the container afaik, the logs show just a normal shutdown and then nothing after reboot.

Anyone have any ideas?

I saw a fancy shower faucet with Alexa that had one cool feature. You could ask for a specific temperature and it would manipulate internal valves to maintain it.

I wouldn’t buy a $2k shower control with spyware for that feature, but it would be nice.

There is a real startup from a few years ago raising money for a toilet with cameras using machine learning to analyze your dumps.

I don’t get this. I was searching YouTube to find a video of a feral hog one time and all the videos were like, “Killing feral hogs with (model of gun)” and “Watch Jane kill 40 feral hogs in 30 minutes”. Presumably these are monetized videos because they had professional looking thumbnails and clickbaity titles.

How is it that you can’t say knife and be monetized but you can do an animal genocide on film? Is this overzealous self censorship or preferential treatment of gun channels?

Osprey is such a cool bird. They live near calm bodies of water because it allows them to see fish below the surface. They basically dive into the water to get them.
