Yes I’m being a jerk. Dude is a complete addict and needs HELP
I went back and played The Dungeon about 15 years ago and I just about cried because it was so fucking bad by modern standards lol
I tend not to get involved in the personal lives of artists, because I like the output not the drama
But Miles has a very interesting story… he grew up a very privileged kid, went to Juilliard and dropped out
Went on to pioneer modal jazz, which was revolutionary at the time… the concept that the entire jazz band was there to create musically, not just noodle around to support the “big solo”
Miles describe himself as a complete outsider who doesn’t even understand people, he doesn’t know what human relationships are
Not unexpected for a genius of his caliber, how on Earth could you possibly relate to other people when you’re that brilliant?
The hard truth is that if you want change you have to change and there’s nothing else to it
You have to try new things even if you think you’re going to hate them
There’s no getting around it
I took my own advice. I’m not saying it’s easy, it’s work
I guess if you find it funny it might help you ease feelings
All that conjures in my mind though is a mouse furiously hammering on a lever trying to get a pellet
It’s also the 1st round top left question
I felt extremely sad reading this. I understand what your perspective is, but what I’m hearing is an addict freaking out.
Very interesting comment, your last remark about Bach and Beethoven made me reflect.
I don’t think there’s anything Jazz about those types of music, in fact they are highly formulaic and mathematical almost. To me they possess absolutely none of the qualities of jazz!
Miles pioneered what is called modal jazz, and undoubtedly he was a visionary. But he’s anything but a cool cat - actually a complete asshole with no friends. The reason his voice is raspy is because he had a freak out on somebody in session after having vocal chord surgery.
Miles’ strength has always been recognizing the skill in other musicians and giving them the platform to work their magic.
Doubtful
I’m not talking out my ass, a good buddy of mine worked for frantic films for decades and I myself learned 3D alongside him… We would squabble over the rendering farm too…
Anyways most of the renderers made for those early movies were custom built. And anytime you custom build, you can’t generalize to output to a different system. So it’s a long way of saying no but maybe, if you wrote a custom renderer that was specifically designed to handle the architecture of the scenes and the art and the lighting and blah blah blah
Edit oh and you would probably need the Lord of all graphics cards, possibly multiple in a small array with custom therading software
The ones that do it for family and friends get away with it, the ones that get peppy and decide to start flogging groceries, etc on Fb Marketplace get watched. It’s really not something you want to try to profit from!!
All the word games in the world don’t change the underlying truth and you know it. McDonald’s is awful it’s not even food, music is similar, most of it is not really even music, the same way McDonald’s isn’t even food, it’s hyper engineered food ingredients. I know it hurts to accept that most popular music is dog shit but that’s the truth and you know it’s true.
The guideline is 3 months but it is entirely dependent on how often you run your furnace, and how dusty or pet-filled your environment is.
I used to manage buildings, so I would deal with hundreds of filters at a time, people with pets or those who ran the circulation function continually needed 3-month replacement. Other people who did not run the fan continuously and did not keep pets, and stayed clean, you could easily get away with a year.
You have to hold the filter up to the light to know, there’s no way to judge it based on time it’s just not useful
Last year, it’s shit you’re not going to change my mind
I’m glad you said you like prog, would you like to check out an album that is dear to my heart?
There are very few albums I will ever listen to more than five times, this one is on regular play for me!
Found it!
I really don’t think I’m overstating things, I go back to the early 90s, I started with Harvard graphics and stuff like that… I have used so many damn image editing softwares, and I’ve even made a few of my own.
I’m honestly going to just plant my foot and say gimp is a misbegotten atrocious lump of shit from a UI perspective - a complete embarrassment, and a complete failure from any perspective of usability science
It is absolutely at the bottom of the pack of any piece of software I have ever used, it’s hard to pick up various bunches of shit and decide what lump smells the worst, so I’m not going to say gimp is the worst, but it’s floating at the bottom of the septic tank
I cannot believe that people continue to step up and defend it, it’s garbage.
Good listen overall. I like their musical ideas. Ty for posting the full album
Hard finding information about this band!
Was really only able to find out they’re an Argentinian fusian jazz band in Buenos Aires, and this album was released in 2016
Members are Natalia Calfayan (violin), Santiago Gatti (transverse flute, piano), Diego Wasserman (electric guitar), Juan Saidón (acoustic guitar), Santiago Gonzalez (bass), Tomás Cipolla (drums)
The mixing is sooooooo bad though? I thought the bass and midtones were dominated by a persistent high frequency squealches/rattles especially at the top end, and I was hearing constant white noise. Compression/filter fuzz everywhere. None of the instruments sounded even remotely clean. What a shame. I listened on B&W headphones and it hurrrrrrt, had to swap out to a boombox around 15 minutes in
I tried the free release they put up on bandcamp but it’s no different
Just take a step back and look at how you are deciding what is good before you understand the application the tool is being put to
You’re asking me to suggest alternatives… FOR WHAT? You apply tools to specific problems, you do not pick a tool and then decide it’s the best tool.
Drunk rich lady martini bar jazz
I jumped to random points three times, and auditorially it was all indistinguishable
