I’m glad that it’s been working for you for so long! I’m looking forward to building some history with this one, too.

Thanks again for all the help! My Timex Titanium field watch arrived today, and I’m unbelievably happy with it! It is almost exactly the same size as the AE-1000W, is comfortable to wear, and seems to be keeping accurate enough time. It looks like it may have gained about 3 seconds over the last 6 hours, and +12 seconds a day is well within the advertised +20/-40.

That is an amazing site! Thank you so much for the links!

Thank you! The Wingman Worldtimer is the one that I’m looking at, but I think I’m leaning more towards the titanium Timex. Shock resistance is an added benefit, as is the tougher construction. Not that I do anything too adventurous, but I am one hell of a klutz. The AVI-8 sure is a pretty watch, though!
I have a lot of experience with the regular Casio watches, and use an AE-1000W as my EDC. Build quality is excellent for the price, but the clear plastic on the front can be prone to scratching. Unless you’re an incredibly light sleeper, a watch alarm will never wake you up. Sorry I don’t have any information about this specific watch. Wrist-worn step counters have never worked that well for me since I guess I don’t move my arms when I walk. They work if I put them in my pocket, so I’ve defaulted to just using the step tracker on my phone.

Probably? But then we’re entering into the land of Effort That Isn’t Fun*. The corpses of too many of my unfinished projects litter its plains.
*For me. I’m not disparaging jigsaws.

Have you looked into the Pilot Explorer/Lightive? It runs about $20, and has a really nice nib. The Pilot Metropolitan shares the same nib assembly, is a metal pen, but can run a little bit more expensive. If you’re willing to pick one up from Amazon/AliExpress/Etsy, the Hongdian 1851 is less than $20, metal, and a great writing experience. It even comes with a converter, so you’re not stuck with cartridges.

Adding a vote for Jetpens. I’ve bought some pretty expensive pens from them, and their customer service is stellar.

I’ve done a ton of business with both Atlas and Goldspot. Nothing but high praise for both of them!

Long story short, the Goulets helped start a chapter of a very right-wing, anti-LGBTQ+ church, so you can figure that 10% of everything you spend with them will end up funding hate.

You may have just spoken it into existence. It’s a great idea, but it’s been a bit since I looked into circuit boards with custom shapes.

I put down SparkleChicken Heavy Industries, Chief Engineer. We manufacture motorcycle parts and satellite guidance systems.
The SparkleChicken thing existed long before, but I used SCHI so many times that I designed a logo and bought the domain name. Every time I spin up a circuit board for a personal project, I get the logo silk screened on it. Been pretty fun over the years.

It took a few years for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story to go from a fake trailer to the real deal. I have hope!
Thank you for the expert assistance earlier! You were amazingly helpful, and sent me down a new rabbit hole learning about the movements!
