Haunted amulets? In this economy? Most I can afford is that $1 DVD copy of A Shark’s Tale. It’ll have to do.

We use the word cusp these days honey, it’s like French, it just sounds sophisticated.
Everybody has been in a situation where it was hard to open up, it’s no big dill.
>Time is like an endless human centipede except it’s measured in days and weeks instead of mouths and assholes.

That- that’s about it. Oh and cesium shrimp. But really, that’s basically it.

InvalidName2@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Target’s CEO is stepping down as customers turn away | CNN Business101·20 hours agoI kind of agree with the general sentiment that maybe they should have selected an outsider. The DEI bullshit wasn’t just a “whoopsie” and Target has been declining for years, even if there was a lag in the official numbers.
It’s been a long time since I looked at Target and saw a strategy other than “let’s wait and see what Walmart’s doing and then just do that”. Generally speaking, people who shop at Walmart expect (and in some perverse way demand) an ever shittier experience and drop in quality. I just don’t foresee a continuation of Target’s strategy from the past decade or so being a realistic long term strategy. Walmart, Amazon, and Dollar General will be the way of retail at this pace.
Granted, I’m not Target’s target audience. I used to buy a lot of clothes there, then the quality on that dropped while prices shot up, so I just stopped. And I used to use their e-commerce site more often when they didn’t have third party sellers, but once they added those, there was no longer any differentiating or compelling reason to go there other than to buy something I could get $2 cheaper at Walmart, $4 cheaper on Amazon, or $8 cheaper on Temu.
What with all the scribbles and such? Best I can do is ask AI, which came back with this response:
Acnodon senai, Sena’s pacu, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Serrasalmidae, which includes the pacus and piranhas. This fish is found in Brazil.

InvalidName2@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•FDA warns public not to eat possibly radioactive shrimp sold at Walmart3·21 hours agoWalmart has had Halloween decorations out on shelves for a few weeks now. If the marketing department had so much as a shred of creativity, they could have spun this as being a promotional stunt for the new Beetlejuice 4K DVD Bluray and Digital Download box set featuring Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice as well as director’s commentary, deleted scenes, and 3 full hours of the shrimp scene on repeat.
InvalidName2@lemmy.zipto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•FDA warns public not to eat possibly radioactive shrimp sold at WalmartEnglish19·22 hours agoLiving in the USA in 2025 is like that movie Cabin in the Woods. Basically every conceivable way for the country to end is happening simultaneously, all at once, and even then nobody bet on the radioactive shrimp, not even the maintenance crew. Granted, the reason they didn’t bet on the shrimp is because they all got furloughed by DOGE back in February.
It’s way too late at night for all those directions, somehow ended up creating my own blind spot by sticking my thumb in my bum.
This is one of my complaints when it comes to certain people discussing grocery prices.
Like, in the USA, we know inflation is rampant despite official numbers saying it’s just barely a teensy tiny issue. And I have no argument that it’s gone insane, even compared to covid related inflation.
But if you’re calling that your “grocery bill” when you’ve got a garden hose, brand new mixer, metal shelving, sewing machine, and oled tv in your cart … we clearly don’t see eye to eye on what the term “groceries” means.

I think the US state of Georgia must have some of the least restrictive laws when it comes to inspections, at least in the south east. Every time I drive through that state, I see shit almost exactly like this. Bumpers hanging off cars scraping on the road. Hood and/or trunk lids held down by tape. 0 functional lights on the back of the vehicle. Windshields smashed to all heck and back, no way anybody can see out of that. Rear view mirrors without the mirrors. 3 doughnut tires, driving 80 mph (129 kph) down the interstate. I’ve seen it all, and I don’t even live there.
InvalidName2@lemmy.zipto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Piracy surges as streaming costs drive viewers awayEnglish15·2 days agoHopefully this won’t get me too much negative reaction: I’m not a proud pirate. I’d rather not pirate at all. I’m kind of ashamed that it’s come to this.
There were a few solid years where I literally did not do it and felt no desire to, back when streaming was new, and there were only a few serious players. I’d love to return to that era, but I know it will never exist again.
So now, I and other members of my family, pay a ridiculous amount of money for a rotating suite of services, trying to do things the right way, and still, there are way too many times when we can’t find anything we want to watch on any of those services and/or the thing we wanted to watch is not available on any of those services.
Finally broke down and just said fuck it. I tried to support this mess as best I could in hopes it would get better, but fully knowing it wouldn’t. When it definitely did not get better I said no more.

I’m an American in 2025, I’m just glad I can still kind of afford the very cheapest coffee I can find. Not gonna complain too much about the taste as long as I get my sweet coffee buzz in the morning.
We’re fortunate that these tend not to be terribly aggressive spiders, they have a way of popping up out of nowhere, at least in my part of the country.
Also, folks in this sub probably already know this, but for the rest: The bites are not necessarily as dangerous to healthy adults as you might think. It’s usually more concerning for children, elderly, and a subset of folks who happen to react more harshly to the venom. So, don’t get complacent, but also, if you do get bit, don’t panic.
