Use what you like, what plays comfortable and what fits your budget. Don’t tell my Fender Player Jaguar, but I just love my cheap Squier Super-Sonic. I love my Orange Dark Terror, but sometimes my Moore Preamp Live or my Spark is just more convenient.

It does. I hadn’t worn it in months, but I picked it up today and the time was still correct on the minute. I was checking their website and their new smart watches look like a big improvement, too. Like I said, you do get bang for your buck.

I bought one almost ten years ago and it’s quite nice. Good for the price and if you like colorful watches, they have some great color schemes. I haven’t tried their smart watches, but I have heard they’re not impressive. But then again, they’re cheap. They often have big discounts on their website, so you can always give it a try.

I use it for all kinds of stuff, a lot of it Dutch. I have feeds on general news, some tech stuff, some Gizmodo tags for topics I enjoy, guitar and music news, and daily comics. The feeds I follow have been trial and error. Some of them have way too much articles and they get annoying. At that point I remove them and look for something else.

I used to use Nextcloud News as well, but it stopped working for a while after a new NC version was released, some time last year. I installed FreshRSS as a temporary solution, but I never looked back. Yes, it’s convenient that you don’t need an extra service and that it’s integrated in NC, but FreshRSS is very customizable and has a much better user experience. You can always link it to Nextcloud as an external page.

I second FreshRSS, but I use Readrops as Android client. Nothing beats the normal FreshRSS mobile experience though. I haven’t tried Capyreader yet, but I’m gonna check it right now. Update: FreshRSS and Capy Reader it is. I’m impressed with how intuitive and customizable CR is. Thanks for the tip!

Definitely worth watching. I really enjoyed the buildup and there were some really surprising parts. The end wasn’t really my thing, but that’s a personal preference. One of the better shows I’ve seen recently.

Indeed, although I’m not sure how much added value it would have, since I think the Crayon overdrive would flatten out the broken up tube sound of the Hot Tubes. Nevertheless, it’s still an awesome pedal

I still prefer Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, but I’m a big Russ Meyer geek.

I didn’t know about this song yet. King Gizzard is cool though. I actually learned about this pedal through the band HotWax, which are named after the pedal. Not as wacky, but also good stuff.

The Hot Tube side is good to give the guitar a boost and a fuller sound, like tubes that are starting to break up. The Crayon is an overdrive with nice textures. It plays really well with my Stoy Fuzzmaster (a big muff style pedal). Combined, it somewhat moves into distortion territory. The bottom row of the knobs makes it really versatile. With the blend knob turned back, it’s a great way to add some hair to your sound without compromising on clarity. I used the settings shown in the picture to add an extra gain stage to the Dark Terror and it sounds divine. I can go from cleanish to high gain with 4 different sounds. I was glad to have a noise gate though. I opened it up, but there’s no micro switch. Sadly, also no Easter egg text, for those interested.

With both, it also matters how you store it. But like I said, (modern) cassettes are not for HiFi. If I really want to immerse myself in a record, I need the vinyl. The whole experience is just so much fun.

I had been playing for 15 years or so before I joined a band. The trick is to not aim too high, make music that is a bit (but not too much) below your skill level. That way you are able to get the hang of songs relatively easy, which boosts your confidence. From there on you can keep growing.

I want tot go one further and say music cassettes. Love their sound and way more compact than vinyl. Sadly, there’s no good new hardware being made at the moment, although I really like my We Are Rewind player, it’s far from HiFi.

And that’s why Bandcamp exists. No DRM, whatever format you like and you support the artist.

One or two coins usually fit. In the rare cases that I get more coins, I just put them in my pocket and put them in a piggy bank when I get home.
