I’m not saying your desires are wrong, but this hasn’t been reflected in reality in ever, and dismissing what was generally believed to be a guaranteed win for the conservatives just a couple months ago being turned into a minority by the Liberals as being too close is just surreal.

And damning for Poilievre. He not only had the opportunity to win by banging on the usual triad of “time for a change”, “we need to unleash the economy”, and “tax relief” but he lost his seat in the process. It’s easy to point at the gains the conservatives made, but losing at all after a decade of having another party in place, especially in very difficult times, is impressive. Even if he isn’t ousted or doesn’t step down, he may be seen by the electorate as incapable of bringing home a win.

The thing is, the Liberals are in a good enough position that they can maintain power with the support of the BQ or the NDP. This gives them some leverage if they tried to play the two parties against each other, and the NDP may be more willing to help given their low head count. Maintaining relevance could be a strong motivating factor. All that said, I hope that Carney instead chooses to build consensus. If he is able to, it will lead to more stability for our country in troubled times and would be a promising indicator of a change to PR electoral reform, which would also cement greater power for Liberals while opening the path for more social progress for Canadians. I’m not optimistic, but a non-career politician may be more inclined in that direction than most others.

I used to live in a house that had the wrong GPS coordinates for iOS maps. This caused problems when ordering pizza. In my Android-only home, we would type in the address and it would show correctly. Had a friend do it on their iPhone and it would pick a location miles away. Very weird, and fixed within a year of us finding out about it.

So? Numbers need to be human readable and entered by humans, too, and I’ve seen discussions about the proper pronunciation of 1.32. There are a number of ways that appear equally useful, but there is a convention that has been applied to remove ambiguity. And that convention is ignored in areas where other issues are more important. That convention is no more natural than writing itself, yet most people beyond a basic level of numeracy (and, perhaps, English fluency) know it. Moreover, filenames, just like numbers, need to be computer readable, as well, and conventions have been applied. Some of those conventions were constrained by the capabilities of computers of the time, just like with dates.

And people are very much case-aware. IF THEY WERENT, WHY ARE ALL CAPS COMMENTS INTERPRETED DIFFERENTLY?

How is it not data, usually key data, no less? It requires a unique path/filename combination, has to be human readable, is entered by a user. Not traditionally what one would think of as data entry, but is data that is entered and referenced. And unless you only use the recent view for finding files, knowing that the name is entered as intended seems rather important.

I can answer yes in both directions. It’s amazing the toll stress can have on your mental health, whether that stress be environmental factors or biochemical imbalances. In the right, or wrong, environment 6 years can completely change who you are.

This isn’t to say she committed suicide, I don’t know her and barely know of her, but your opinion is verifiably incorrect, and more likely to be incorrect for someone who has suffered significant trauma followed up by years of emotional abuse.

I prefer computers do what I tell them to rather than what it thinks I meant to tell it to. If I screw up, why isn’t it on me to fix it? And why aren’t you proofing data entry before accepting it?

Think of it from a math perspective. The non-transphobic stance would be that woman is the superset which contains subsets of trans, cis, and others. The comment says they’re two separate sets, woman and transwoman. This is why cis doesn’t have to be used, because woman is sufficient to describe the set, because trans women aren’t part of it.

Canada simply can’t afford to match America in conventional warfare. America has a more powerful military than the next 5 countries combined, and Canada isn’t one of those. Unconventional warfare, on the other hand. I can’t think of anything stupider than starting an unconventional war with a neighboring country with an incredibly long, weakly inhabited, border and a population that looks and sounds mostly like your own citizens. If even 1% of Canadians had a problem with that, there would be half a million insurgents that couldn’t be easily identified.
