Thanks for the links! When I say “recording” I mean any attempt to write to the disk or edit a track (eg a deletion). I get a TOC error. I’ve looked at repair videos on YouTube but I’m not up to the job. If it’s just a matter of cleaning though I think I could do it.

That makes sense. I have a good bit of experience as a casual user since the early 2000s, but I don’t have the same drive I used to for problem solving :~)

That’s such a pity. I absolutely love the distribution but have had a lot of teething issues that were just non-existent on another distribution so I switched. For now, anyway. Thanks for chiming in.

The main issue I have with buying one is that even when the ad says that it’s fully tested and working. I contact them and they haven’t actually tested recording.

I have a Sharp MD Studio (great for recording and editing) and a Sharp portable. They don’t record anymore so I imagine it’s a common problem.

I’m not hearing great feedback on this newspaper. Two biggest issues:

• The standard of Irish isn’t as good as other publications
• They repeat pro-Kremlin talking points sometimes 😬

It’s surprising that it doesn’t make more headlines. Not just because of its own notability, but the Senator who created it was previously one of Ireland’s most famous musical artists, Francis Black. She was relatively well known in the UK in the 90s.

They absolutely have a foothold in so many places. Even in Ireland where the nation is hugely supportive of the Palestinian plight, the two main ruling parties of the coalition rebooted the Friends of Israel a few years ago and guess what: the Occupied Territories Bill - an election promise - has been cancelled.

I can understand that decision. I think anyone with a disability or old age might also prefer to face that situation than the torture of what Israelis have in store for them at those other locations. But I feel absolutely awful for them.
