Welcome! Always happy to have more people here!

My number one recommendation is the One hand & Six fingers comic. They are 2 separate comics with an interwoven story arch. It is a completed story so no waiting on new editions.

If you are into DC and Marvel they both have an alternative universe run at the moment that is pure gold. The Ultimate titles from Marvel and Absolute for DC. From Marvel I also like the Ryan North Fantastic Four series, short one off adventures with an overarching story.

Lastly Image Comics is having some really cool non hero comics, Grommits, Wicked and Divine, Geiger (kinda superhero-ey).

There is so much good stuff at the moment, I hope you will have a blast!

  • I am currently at the pinnacle of Chris Claremonts Xmen run where they fight Mr Sinister. I was only reading the uncanny Xmen, but then they were suddenly face to face with Xfactor, so I jumped on that as well. Xfactor has been a pleasant read, really liked the mutants introduced there, especially Artie and Leech.

On the side I have been reading Grommits and the 3rd trade paperback of Monstress. Monstress is so pretty and interesting, but also contains a lot of woven storylines and callbacks, so I only read it when I have full focus.

  • I would start with a hero that you like. I dont think you have to pick either, just read what you like. So if you want to read Superman, just pick him up.

I did a little research on the best (standalone) stories of the heroes I wanted to follow, for example all star Superman, or Batman year 1. If I liked those, I would look at others, or recent editions.

Sometimes they branch out during runs, which would be reason for me to look at something new. For example there was a Black Panther series where he would have interactions with Xmen and Fantastic Four, causing me to read them and evaluate if I liked them.

Honestly it is all still quite overwhelming with how much stuff there is. Just pick something you like to get into it, and see it from there.

Lastly, this community is quite active and has some really good help, so if you pick it up again and are looking for nexts, come find us!
